so-soBeing generous with a So-So because I didn't really enjoy this one that much. The writing is fine, but the pacing is way off - it takes ages to get going - it's just not very exciting/intriguing & I didn't engage. The plot is slow, sometimes going nowhere in an over-wordy manner while my meagre interest depleted. The structure also confuses the chronology. It improves slightly around 80% but that's too little too late for me. Was mostly bored.
Starting this one on this snowy day in Yorkshire's East Riding. Have you got snow where you are? Is it just me or does reading on a snowy day have an extra level of enjoyment?
pickPart Swiss family Robinson, part Von trapp, part whodunnit.... This is a tale all about the outsider. The daughter who will never been viewed with equal value to her brother. The young man who finds it difficult to embrace a religion his brother preaches. The wanderer who is searching for home, at all costs. Slow going in the beginning, but full of rich detail and a satisfying conclusion.
