Read this in honor of the NFL‘s final week of the regular season! Adam Schefter‘s wife, Sharri, was widowed when her previous husband died in the twin towers in 9/11. This is the story of them meeting and building a life after 9/11, and Adam‘s reflections on the man he never met, Joe. It‘s a good story, but would have been better as article; the book dragged and the writing was a bit repetitive and flat. Very touching story though!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In 2007, well-known sports writer Adam Schefter married Sharri Maio, a 9/11 widow with a 6 year old son. Her husband Joe worked on one of the north tower‘s uppermost floors. This is a very honest, incredibly personal account of joining another man‘s family, and honoring his memory, while creating their own unique happiness. This story needs to be heard and will stay with me always.

My favorite was undoubtedly The Man I Never Met. It isn‘t the best book I‘ve ever read, but I literally cannot remember having such strong feelings and emotions about a book in a very long time. ♥️

Adam Schefter married Sharri Maio, a 9/11 widow. This is his memoir about his marriage to Sharri, and the role that her husband Joe has in it. It is such a moving and honorable tribute. I read it in one sitting and had tears running down my face for most of it.

IamIamIam Oh wow, my grandmother and I were having a conversation last week about 9/11 widows last week, on 9/11 in fact. This would be an interesting read, especially because my dad's old partner married a woman who lost her fiance at Ground Zero. 6y

IamIamIam I tend to avoid reading about 9/11 for a number of reasons. My dad was there and a close friend's brother, her other brother was on the tarmac behind flight 93 flying, my husband watched the towers fall from New Jersey. But this seems like a really intriguing viewpoint that we all think about but don't come across that often. 6y

Reviewsbylola I can definitely understand that. Every year around 9/11 I get obsessive over it and read everything I can get my hands on but the rest of the year I keep it compartmentalized because thinking about it too often is just too difficult. Which is easy to do because I don‘t have to live with the personal loss every day that people like the Maios do. 😢 @IamIamIam 6y

IamIamIam As the day goes on every year, I get more and more anxious and stressed out. There's a lot of emotions that, to this day, New Yorkers haven't processed, much less the rest of the country. These ghosts stay with us as much as the rest of those experiences. I'm going to try & bump this up on my list but there's a good chance I may not finish it. 6y
