August reads. Turtles All the Way Down for #LitsyAtoZ 5 to go to finish. The Other Alcott for #LMPBC My daughter and I are rereading HP series again. This time watching the movie first and the listening to the book. It was a pretty good month. The first two were ok reads but I loved the rest.
pick40/52 - ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️/5! This memoir written by Vincent‘s sister-in-law using so many excepts from letters from Vincent, Theo, and their mom and dad was a delightful read! It is a short book with regards to words, but not emotions and meaning. Many of his paintings are reprinted! It is a gem! I highly recommend reading it if you are a Van Gogh fan or a lover of art.
A letter from Paul Gauguin to Vincent ....”My God, how terrible these money questions for an artist.” These artists struggled financial when they were alive, yet so people have made fortunes selling their artwork after they died.
“Head of a skeleton with a burning cigarette” by Vincent Van Gogh, c. 1885-86. Not one of his most recognizable paintings. Really enjoying this book!
I am really loving the little memoir. I have been to The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, seen his works at the National Gallery in DC, The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, and The Metropolitan in NYC, but I never tire of looking at his work. It also makes me sad... so much sadness in his life. Without Jo Van Gogh-Bonger, we would have never known his story or his works. His sister-in-law did all of this.
A memoir written by Vincent‘s sister-in-law!!! It is a short book, but I am really looking forward to seeing how she documented his life.
I bought this lovely memoir while in Philadelphia yesterday. I can‘t wait read it!!!!
