Day 26: #earth

Watching the episode of The Crown where Prince Philip gets obsessed with the moon landing--particularly of how the astronauts felt about seeing Earth from space--reminds me of how grateful I am for my sense of wonder at astronomical objects.

Meteor comic image from DUST, the educational alternate reality game for teens I helped run in 2016. Artist is Der-Shing.

My sea is far away
let's meet closer anywhere
under the one same cloud.

My blue water
is for the sun.
I sing beneath the wave.

My rose
is for the show
I am imbued
in the fragrance.

My sky is open;
it hugs the earth
reaching out far afar.
Beyond the rainbow
beyond the peacock's eyes.

Catch it too.
See from beneath the blue
slips out a butterfly!

“Everyone they loved was in that tiny blue planet. And it was shrinking, getting smaller each time they look.”

My final presentation in my U.S. History class in college was about photos that effected social change. This was one of the pictures featured. I‘m excited to read this one!

DivineDiana My daughter swears there is some conspiracy involving this space flight, but I just keep ignoring it. Something about a documentary that she saw?!? Need to investigate! 6y

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Earthrise photo, is the first photo of the earth rising above the moon. The photo was taken from Apollo 8. The narrator is both omnipresent and represented by a little girl. It talks about how amazed people were, and how this one photo helped people truly realize that we are one earth, and one people, without real walls and borders. The illustrations harken back to 1968 with their soft crawn feel, almost like visual static.
