Accused: The Unsolved Murder of Elizabeth Andes | Amber Hunt, Amanda Rossmann
3 posts | 3 read | 7 to read
The true story of the unsolved murder of Ohio co-ed Elizabeth Andes, the police's quick arrest of her boyfriend, Bob Young, and the criminal and civil juries that each delivered not-guilty verdicts, allowing Young, the only suspect in the case, to walk free, as featured on the Cincinnati Enquirer's popular podcast Accused: The Unsolved Murder of Elizabeth Andes. Perfect for fans of Adnan's Story, based on the hit podcast Serial.

"When Elizabeth Andes was found bound, stabbed, and strangled in her Ohio apartment in 1978, police and prosecutors decided within hours it was an open-and-shut case."

I received #Accused free from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

vkois88 The book is comprised of transcripts from a podcast the authors did based on the murder, and includes interviews with some key players in the victim's life, as well as a few of the investigators who actually agreed to talk about the case. Unfortunately this wasn't many, as all the investigators thought they knew who had murdered Elizabeth right away. They were disgusted when not one, but TWO separate juries found the suspect not guilty. The case soon went cold. When Amber & Amanda decide to dive into the case, they realized.there were multiple other potential subjects. However, none of them can ever be tested against forensic evidence, as it has all somehow managed to vanish... I enjoyed reading this one, though it is sad that Elizabeth's family may never have the answers & closure they so desperately desire (and deserve). 3.5🌟

Beth Andes was just like #oneofus in college. It was 1978 and she had just graduated from Miami U in Ohio when she was found murdered one night in her apartment. The person who found her was her boyfriend, and he was immediately charged with her murder. But 40 years later, many questions remain. The format of this book was literally just a transcript of the 9 podcast episodes about the case, which worked surprisingly well. #netgalley #abbainaugust

Mdargusch Sounds like a book for @Meredith3 😁 6y
L_auren Oooh! I‘m going to download the podcast. 6y
Reviewsbylola I know, I wish there were newer updates. The last podcast was in December 2016 and it‘s the one they end the book with. I had really hoped maybe they were getting closer. If you listen, let me know what you think because I‘d love to discuss with someone! @L_auren 6y

emilyhaldi This sounds like a podcast I would be into! Although I do get frustrated listening to unsolved mysteries 😕 6y
Cinfhen Hi @L_auren 👋Hope your summer is going well 😀 I don‘t like unresolved murders either @emilyhaldi 6y
Reviewsbylola This one is more interesting then most because her bf was actually tried twice-civilly and criminally—and found not guilty both times, yet the police force on the case and the prosecutor refuse to believe he is innocent. So there‘s a lot to sift through. @Cinfhen @emilyhaldi I actually used to feel the same way though about unsolved true crime. I read some good books recently that changed my thinking. 6y
