pickI‘m a huge L‘engle fan, started reading as a pre-teen and kept going right throughout my life, so I appreciated this look at her work and legacy. Both the good and the bad are explored honestly but graciously and I enjoyed the narration. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

pickI just loved this biography focused on L‘Engle‘s spiritual legacy. It examines the many contrasts & paradoxes of L‘Engle & her writing—from sacred & secular to science & faith. It also doesn‘t shy away from some problematic aspects of L‘Engle‘s writing, which I found refreshing. So much of the book was a challenge to broaden our view of fiction & faith. I‘d definitely recommend it if you‘re interested in the spiritual dimension of L‘Engle‘s work.
What if the story _is_ what the Bible really means? The form of narrative carries the point and cannot be divorced from it.
It boils down to the question of whether we‘re comfortable—as Jesus was with the parables—in letting the story not merely deliver some other point but to actually _be_ the point.
”The uncomfortable places, the troubling questions about faith and Scripture and life and humanity, are exactly where we need to drill down. Focus there, where it bothers you. 😍I honestly have never thought about this. Although I remember being really disappointed in the transformation at the end of Beauty & the Beast. I thought he was more attractive as the Beast!
