It‘s been ages since I did one of these.

1. HERE FOR IT by R. Eric Thomas
2. A GAME FOR SWALLOWS by Zeina Abirached
3. RUN TOWARDS THE DANGER by Sarah Polley

I was gonna do honourable mentions but there‘s like six books I could probably switch out with any of the three listed above, not even counting conversational cookbooks, soooo… 🤷‍♀️

#ThreeListThursday #TLT

monalyisha Oh, hey! We‘re book twins 👯‍♀️…at least a little. 😉 2w
xicanti @monalyisha SIGH, GONE is on my extended/maybe switch out list, so we‘re double twins! 2w
monalyisha I feel like this overlap might be #AuldLangSpine & @MeganAnn related somehow. 😉 2w

xicanti @monalyisha y‘know, it very well might. 2w
MeganAnn @monalyisha yes! I believe @xicanti read it off my #auldlangspine list and I found it thanks to @JackOBotts #newyearwhodis list from the year before. It‘s still a favorite of mine. 😍 Your event continues to help me find the best books every year!! 2w
monalyisha @MeganAnn I definitely read it based on your review! I just saw that he has a picture book out about a cranky construction vehicle? 😅 My hopes aren‘t as high for that one (it looks wordy) but I‘m still tickled! 2w
willaful I really enjoyed Here For It too. Listened to the audiobook. 2w
MeganAnn @monalyisha a picture book? How interesting! I may have to check it out for the sake of curiosity. 😉 2w
JackOBotts @meganan & @monalyisha - I love that Sigh, Gone was a favorite, it‘s one of mine, as well. This is what makes @litsy so fun - discovering books with one another. 🤗 And - of course - adding to my mountain of TBR! 🤣📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚 2w
dabbe @JackOBotts I couldn't agree more! 🤩😃🤩 2w
dabbe Honorable mentions are fine with me! 🤩🤩🤩 2w
JackOBotts @dabbe 🙌🏼 …And finding new folks to follow for even more recs! 😉💜📚 2w
dabbe @JackOBotts YES! 🤩😍😃 2w
xicanti @willaful the audiobook is so much fun. I recommended it to a friend who listened to it while she walked her dog, and she ended up laughing so hard everyone on the street gave her funny looks. 2w
xicanti @JackOBotts @MeganAnn @monalyisha @dabbe all the love for how easy Litsy makes it to find great books & people to discuss them with. 2w
dabbe @xicanti 💚💙💚 1w

Pickpick

Should be my last book post of the day! I finally read this one! It‘s been on my TBR since we first did #AuldLangSpine originally #NewYearWhoDis and it was on @BookNAround ‘s list! (I think).

This was a great read. Probably would have read differently a few years ago. An Anishinaabe community goes dark and they don‘t know why. They lose power, tv, internet, everything and don‘t know why. They have to figure out how to survive in the winter.

BookNAround I‘m so glad you enjoyed it. I just bought the sequel a couple of days ago and am hoping I enjoy it as much as the original. 3mo

TJR‘s books never sound like something I‘m interested in, but they‘re always fantastic. I‘m consistently amazed by how she can make me so deeply invested in characters that are so unlikable/difficult. This was another home run—or rather, an ace. 🎾 Carrie is right up there with Daisy Jones and Evelyn Hugo. Thank you @Karisimo for including this on your #AuldLangSpine list! This was my July #DoubleSpin.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 7mo
dabbe I'm halfway through this myself! Agree with you on all points! 💙🖤🩵 7mo
Tea_and_Starstuff Oh dear, I'd dismissed this author as one I probably wouldn't enjoy. But if you love the book? Might have to give the author a shot. 7mo
BarbaraJean @Tea_and_Starstuff Ha! Yeah, my brain had classified her as “not for me” but then a couple of her books showed up on a #NewYearWhoDis list one year, so I decided to give her a shot. The full-cast audiobook of Daisy Jones & the Six is fantastic, or check out this one or The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and see what you think. Very complex and usually unlikable characters that are absolutely compelling. 7mo

Following tradition my final book of the year will be a Stephen King. I actually have not read anything by King in a very very long time so I am really looking forward to this. My first book of '23 will be an Agatha Christie. I haven't decided which one yet though.
#lastfirst
@booknaround

LeahBergen I like that you have these traditions. 😄 1y
vivastory @LeahBergen Tradition is important lol What is going to be your final book of the year? 1y
LeahBergen I think it will be this one that I‘ve just started (a completely random shelf grab 😆) 1y

vivastory @LeahBergen Oh, man. Have you seen Goodnight Mommy? I watched the original a few months ago & it really got under my skin 1y
LeahBergen @vivastory I haven‘t! I was just reading that comparison and now I‘ll have to look it up. 1y
LeahBergen And I know you and I have discussed our love of the ‘evil child‘ trope in the past! 😆 1y
Reggie Twinkies, I started his The Long Walk tonight. The first kid just got gunned down because of a charley horse. 1y
vivastory @LeahBergen Haha, yes! I do love a good evil children story. I will def be keeping an eye out for your thoughts on this one! 1y
vivastory @Reggie Max Booth said that if he could adapt any King book into a movie he'd want to adapt that one. Brutal. That was my final book of 2019. I remember finishing it right before midnight & wiping tears away. Good times. 1y
Aimeesue One of his best! 1y
BookNAround How cool you have a tradition around your first book of the year. I‘m completely chaotic in how I choose mine. 😂 1y
Rileytmurray Read this one for school and I rely enjoyed it!! 1y
vivastory @Aimeesue I agree! Very underrated IMO! 1y
vivastory @BookNAround I'm very much a mood reader, so my reading tends to also be chaotic but as I like to begin the yr with a fresh book I try to plan it out a little bit. I usually start with a choice from my #newyearwhodis list but I didn't enter this year as I had too much going on at the time 1y

#12Booksof2022. #January

My pick for January is this story of an atypical mother/child relationship which I read as part of my #NewYearWhoDis pairing with @AmyG

Andrew65 Sounds a good read. 1y
AmyG I am glad you enjoyed it, too! 1y
TheBookHippie Oh this is a powerful read. 1y

So excited to be matched with @BarbaraJean for #AuldLangSpine!

I had already read and loved some of her list: Passing, People of the Book, The Night Gardener, Sea of Tranquility, Crossing to Safety. Pictured above are the titles I can't wait to read!

Thanks to @monalyisha for matching us and setting this up!!! So fun!

Karisimo More details for @BarbaraJean: I have been meaning to read Piranesi and Naomi Novik for a while, so thanks for the extra motivation! A friend irl has been begging me to read Under the Whispering Door. I had not previously heard of Address Unknown, Elatsoe, The Wanderers, or Nation, but they sound amazing and right up my alley! 1y
monalyisha 🙌🏻✨🥳 1y
BarbaraJean 🎉These are some GREAT picks. I guess I'm biased, but I loved these! I hope you do, too. Piranesi was the first book I read in 2022 & it was such a great start to the year. I have my IRL book club to thank for Elatsoe (which has beautiful chapter-opening illustrations) & Under the Whispering Door. And Address Unknown was from my #NewYearWhoDis list from @Blaire last year. It's so short but so powerful. I look forward to hearing what you think! 1y

Pickpick

A quiet novel full of compassion (for others, but also finding it for yourself) and a healthy dose of wit. I loved the Neons, the nuns, and especially Agatha. How she slowly grew her confidence; and her journey through questioning her convictions while never judging those around her for theirs.

Thank you for the recommendation @monalyisha 🎉 I don't think I'd have even heard of this one if it wasn't on your list last year!

JamieArc I want to stack this one whenever I see posts about it! 1y
Kristin_Reads Ha! I hadn‘t seen your post yet when I just posted mine about this book. Loved it 😊 1y

TheKidUpstairs @JamieArc do it! I'm so glad I finally picked it up. It was on @monalyisha 's #NewYearWhoDis last from last year, but I didn't get to it in January. I was getting so excited about #AuldLangSpine so I decided to finally pick it up and it was totally worth it. 1y
TheKidUpstairs @Kristin_Reads I always say great minds read alike! 1y
TheKidUpstairs @Chelsea.Poole woo hoo! 1y
JamieArc Of course it was on @monalyisha ‘s #NYWD list! She‘s my #AuldLangSpine match this year and I love all of her picks. 1y
monalyisha @JamieArc I almost want to bend the rules AGAIN and say you can count this one for #AuldLangSpine since I‘m your partner and it *was* on my list…at one time. 😅 1y
monalyisha @TheKidUpstairs I‘m so glad you enjoyed it! I really loved it. Whenever I came across someone putting it down, I could feel myself getting defensive. 😅 It got so little attention, I felt like it deserved for all of the attention it *did* get to be *good* attention. I honestly love a book with not much plot to speak of. 🤷‍♀️ What can I say? 1y

JamieArc 🎉🎉. Time to finalize my list of top books! 1y
monalyisha I know, @JamieArc! Me too! It‘s been a weird reading year. Kind of all over the place, with lots of “just okay/perfectly fine” books. I think my list is going to be shorter than is typical for me…but the books that make it on will be ones I‘ve truly loved! 1y

Deblovestoread So excited! 💜 1y
Read4life I haven‘t participated before but I‘m excited to join. Also a little nervous not knowing what to expect. Definitely going out of my comfort zone. 🤓 1y
TheKidUpstairs My list is shaping up to be shorter than past years as well! But the ones I've loved, I've really really loved. But, like you, lots of good but not great reads. 1y
monalyisha @TheKidUpstairs We really are reading twins! 😉👯‍♀️ 1y
Amandajoy Time to finalize my list! 1y
monalyisha @AmandaJoy Heck yes! 🙌 1y
Megabooks Trying to narrow 50 I‘ve tagged on the storygraph down to 20 or fewer. Very excited! 1y
monalyisha @Megabooks It must be challenging with how much you read each year! Good luck! 1y
CarolynM My list will likely be shorter this year too😒 Not a lot of really great reads to choose from. 1y
Chelsea.Poole Eekk! I love this event not only for the actual match but I love to see everyone‘s lists! Can‘t wait to see what you come up with @Megabooks 👀 1y
Megabooks @Chelsea.Poole thanks! And 💯 same as far as peeping all the lists! 1y
