Take Off Your Shoes
Take Off Your Shoes: One Man's Journey from the Boardroom to Bali and Back | Ben Feder
2 posts | 2 read
A refreshingly pleasant addition to the journals of self-discovery, with a timely focus on ecological stewardship. Feders self-deprecating humor remains charming throughout. Kirkus Reviews Take Off Your Shoes invites the reader on a journey of self-(re)discovery. A hard-charging, successful, financial wheeler-dealer, and corporate CEO, the author discovers at the pinnacle of his career that he may be losing the very things that drive him to be top dog in business. He risks his career to find personal fulfillment and rebuild family relationships before he loses them forever. Together, he and his wife and children set off on a sabbatical year around the world, a year that transforms them all. The writing is brutally honest, baring his innermost struggles, questions, and fears, in the face of which the reader is defenseless to resist joining the author on his quest. As the author navigates the ups and downs of his sabbatical year, the reader is challenged to examine what gives meaning to life, what is of utmost importance, and how to make the most of our fleeting span of existence.

I enjoyed the idea of this book and his journey, it was very peaceful. The only thing is that most people would not have the luxury or ability to put your job on hold to take your family across the world for 6 months. I'm glad his journey gave him insight on his life and job, but wow I wish I could do that!

I would dub this “Eat Pray Love for the Corporate Set”. It‘s interesting to see how one would go about preparing a family for an extended sabbatical and I believe this book definitely will find its intended audience. However, I think it‘s difficult for the common man to empathize with Mr. Feder‘s story. I gave this book three stars. I received this e-book in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Radius Book Group. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
