This sweeping tale captures the essence of Texas on a staggering scale as it chronicles the life and times of cattleman Jordan "Bick" Benedict, his naive young society wife, Leslie, and three generations of land-rich sons. A sensational story of power, love, cattle barons, and oil tycoons, Giant was the basis of the classic film starring James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rock Hudson.

#two4tuesday

1. Yes! I have several faves. And a couple of years ago, I read quite a few in a classic reading challenge.

2. I still have over two dozen on my TBR bookcase including the tagged.

Who hasn‘t played? Consider yourself tagged!

TheSpineView A number of classics on my list. One of these days! Thanks for playing! 2y
bthegood I don't see the tagged book mentioned often - it is on my TBR and part of my #BookSpinBingo - I might get to it this year 😂 (edited) 2y
wanderinglynn @bthegood I also might get to it this year 😆 2y

Well I think it was called Giant because everything is bigger in Texas. I enjoyed this Mid Century American novel. Granted it did have some touchy subjects in it. But as we all know, as times and attitudes change things that were once considered the norm when they were written now can be considered offensive. My opinion is, look how times have changed since the item was written and how far society has come.

I am currently on page 145. After reading the book I might watch the film yet again. I think I have seen it over ten times.

My #TBT pick is the book I'm currently reading. It's Edna time. This is another lovely that I rescued of a discard/destroy pile. And this is a first edition of all things.

Betty One of my whole time favorites. 7y
