The Criminal Lawyer
The Criminal Lawyer | Thomas Benigno
1 post | 1 read
FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE #1 BESTSELLER THE GOOD LAWYER-- A NEW NOVEL IN THE GOOD LAWYER SERIES- INSPIRED BY REAL CRIMES-- A serial killer is littering the south shore beach of Long Island with the bones of his female victims stuffed into burlap bags. Nick Mannino (THE GOOD LAWYER), a former South Bronx Legal Aid Attorney, is now middle-aged. A complex and compelling character, Nick has a disturbing family history--his constant court battles nothing more than a futile effort to hide and deny a haunting truth about himself and a sinewy bloodline marred by unspeakable crimes. Then this brutal serial killer turns on him, and worse, his family. As much a thriller as it is a mystery, with an ending as riveting as that in Silence of the Lambs, The Criminal Lawyer is also a love story, a novel of family secrets, and crimes beyond forgiveness.

How long do you give a book before you bail? What‘s the deciding factor?

I‘m 25% in and struggling. The storyline is ok, reviews from Amazon make me think I‘m due for a twist or turn that will morph this into something I can‘t put down. But I don‘t like any of the characters. They‘re annoying and one-dimensional so far. Ugh. I hate to bail after 25% but life is too short to read boring text.

Marilyncjackson 20% is where I draw the line. Life is too short to waste on a story you are not interested in! 6y
Ye_Mighty_Andy_Spare I always have a few books on the go. For me, it's rarely a conscious choice to put a book down - it's more often that I just stop picking it up because I'm not interested in it any more (edited) 6y
MelissaSewell Yeah I gave it another chapter and was still underwhelmed. I was expecting a legal thriller, but so far this was just a murder story where a potential victim‘s boyfriend‘s father happens to be a lawyer. Meh. 6y
