In this breathtaking final book in her epic trilogy, The Age of Legends, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong blends fantasy, action and romance to give readers the unforgettable ending they've been waiting for. The empire rests on the edge of a knife, and sisters Ashyn and Moria are the handle and the blade. Desperate to outmaneuver the evil Alvar Kitsune, whose hold on the people grows stronger every day, Emperor Tatsu begs Moria to put aside past grievances and ally with Gavril--at least long enough to make an attempt on Alvar's life. Meanwhile, reunited with her long-lost grandfather, Ashyn discovers that she is the key to a ritual that could reawaken an ancient dragon and turn the tide of the coming battle in their favour. But with lies and betrayal lurking around every corner, Ashyn and Moria will have to decide once and for all where their allegiances lie. And it may not be where their hearts would lead them. Excellent book. I am, of course, in love with Tyrus and Moria. However, I will always be more of an Ashyn, myself. Wonderful, as always, from Kelley Armstrong. I‘m left wanting more, even though this was the last book!

Well, a satisfying conclusion to the series. I liked the choices made by heroes and heroines. The pacing was well done. There were quite a few things tied up at the end, and perhaps a shade quickly.

"Moria stood at his back, dagger raised. Gavril pushed the door. It did not budge. He eyed it and seemed ready to bash his shoulder into it when she whispered, “You cannot fight with a dislocated sword arm, Kitsune. Kick it.”

He hesitated.

“If you fall on your arse, I‘ll not laugh.” She paused. “Or not loudly." "

Forest of Ruin is the final book in the Age of Legends trilogy. I enjoyed this series and love the premise, however there were a couple of things that bothered me about this book.

Firstly the ending was anticlimactic after the massive amount of build-up. Secondly I don't like the way the two twins are represented (more in the comments).

Overall though it is a good end to the trilogy and still a pick for me. 🙂

Bookworm54 Throughout the whole trilogy one of the twins is described as outgoing, brave, and heroic, while the other seems to be more of a supporting character despite half the chapters being from her point of view. Even though she too is strong and does manage to defend herself, I can't help but feel like her achievements are diminished in comparison to her sisters. Particularly by both herself and how everyone seems to deem her incapable all the time. 😑 7y

readinginthedark I felt like it was a bit more balanced in the third book than the other two, but I know what you mean. 7y

Finally getting to this beauty :) It's been on my shelf for awhile and I guess it's a good time to finish a series at the end of a year. Loving it so far 📖

Hmmm...I didn't want to give this a so-so but the ending was anti-climatic. The rest of the book was what I've come to expect from Kelley Armstrong which makes the ending stand out so much more.

I have a problem, my problem is that I literally salivate at stacks, shelves, and piles of books. Then I have to buy them or check them out. My current reading/TBR from the library pile.

MrBook That's not a problem--to speak in an old-fashioned sense, that's called "being right in the head". ???? 8y

Really enjoyed it. It wrapped up all the loose ends and was a quick and easy read. The ending felt a bit abrupt but made sense. Definitely recommend this trilogy if you like fantasy, horror, and romance. It was a good blend of the three.
