The Duke Heist | Erica Ridley

This is my first book by Erica Ridley and now I am a huge fan. The beginning of a new series following the Winchester family, orphans adopted by the late Baron of Winchester. We follow the head of the family, Chloe, as she infiltrates the Duke of Faircliffe‘s life to regain a family painting that was stolen by his father. In a game of cat and mouse the enemies begin to see the other side and have to fight their attraction for one another.

This was so much fun! A different take on the Disney world with all the characters. Looking at things from the villains side you can understand why they are viewed as they are and why they‘ve done what have. It‘s an interesting perspective and seeing them as teens in a world similar to ours makes them relatable. I‘m really looking forward to more in this series as I can tell it‘s going to be epic.

This was one of my daughters books and I read it at her insistence. I‘m so glad I did as it was hilarious! This was my first Terry Pratchett book and I just know that I‘ll be reading many more of them in the future. His writing style and humour are right up my alley. So much fun!

I. Loved. This. Book. I just adored it. It‘s written in a series of letters between a small village, a young writer (Juliette), and her friends that are also her publishers. It takes place just after WW2 and they bond over their experiences during the war. Some of the details are hard to read and I have no doubt that the events are true. The idea of reading the story as a series of letters is amazing and I loved it so much.

Well I didn‘t see that ending coming. I liked that the book wrapped up the game but not really, that it left it open ended and set the stage for the next book. I‘m curious as to what Legend is doing and what his end game is and how Jacks and the others play into it all. There are so many balls up in the air and I can‘t wait to see where they land. I am already eagerly anticipating the last book. I want it now!

Carmen‘s past come back in a strange and convoluted way after her marriage and everything blows up in her face. During the course of the book Carmen begins to realize some harsh truths about life and herself. She began it naive and ended it starting the process of figuring out who she is and how her past has shaped her.

I finished this book in a day and that‘s hard for me to do sometimes with all the demands on my time and attention. It was so good. I just didn‘t want to put it down. Scarlett and her sister Donatella have a pretty nasty father their escape from him is the only thing that keeps them going. Throughout the game Scarlett really comes into her own and stops being so afraid of everything. It wrapped up nicely.

This series is seriously one of my favourites. Garrett and Ethan‘s story has been one I‘ve been waiting for and I was not disappointed. They just work so well together and bring out the best in each other. Garret is so smart, sassy, and wilful and she will not let anyone tell her what she can and cannot do.

I loved how the world of Gomorrah was described. The language was lyrical and so easy to escape into. I enjoyed the mystery and the subtle romance (it wasn‘t overt and in your face, which is nice). I did figure out who was commuting the murders pretty early on but there was a twist that I didn‘t see coming, which I enjoyed. I do hope to see more of Gomorrah and it‘s traveling shows.

This has to be my favourite of the Sinful Suitors series so far. So much intrigue and the characters had to overcome some pretty steep obstacles. They both were strong and stuck to their morals but were willing to change when they needed to. This series just keeps getting better and better. I‘m curious to see what happens next.

What a cool book! Set in the early 1980‘s in San Francisco Lexi, a bakery worker that‘s new to town from Alaska, meets and falls in love with fire fighter Jerry. He does in a fire and Lexi, rightfully wanting to know what really happened, starts digging for answers and comes up with way more than she expected too or needed. The characters are so much fun and I really enjoyed getting to know them all. You can see her grow from girl to woman. ❤️📚

I loved this series but I really hated the ending. I get why the author chose that ending and I get why certain things happened but I really didn‘t want that ending. I guess that‘s why it has such an impact. It‘s like real life. Messy, uncomfortable, uncontrolled, and unfair. That‘s the point. Life is a bitch and then we die. It‘s how we choose to live it that makes us who we are and what we are. Sometimes monsters lurk in the most innocuous ppl

What an interesting idea, that every crime you do unleashes a monster into the world. In a way I feel like this actually happens. Every action has a reaction and it‘s a trickle down effect. The good brings more good and the bad brings more bad. The idea of different monsters for different crimes is cool too. Im curious to see where it goes from here and how Kate and August grow and change.

This book was fascinating in that it‘s hard to fathom why someone would choose to just walk away from the world and have absolutely nothing to do with it. And yet he never really totally left. He still needed society for his food, clothes, and gear, he just chose not to have any human interaction. He didn‘t even really know why he walked away, just that he felt better and more at ease.

I‘m going to admit that this is a total cover buy for me. It‘s so gorgeous. Then I started to read it and I couldn‘t put it down. It wasn‘t at all what I was expecting. This one came out of left field and hooked me. Set in a post apocalyptic earth where the four horsemen have come and gone. Then five years later Pestilence rides forth again alone. The heroine of the story meets him with a gun blast to his chest. I loved every minute of this book.

Yes!! What a way to wrap up the series. I love how each book focused on different groups of people and different couples and then tied them all together. They all went through so much, including the BEI soldiers. It really came down to following orders or following your conscience for many of them. I love that everything was wrapped up neatly in the end. What a fantastic series. I highly recommend.

I got this book for my 8yr old daughter for Christmas and she‘s read it three times. She was adamant that I read it so I did. Now I know why she likes it so much. It‘s so much fun and the world the author created is amazing! Talking giant cats, dragons, trials to enter a prestigious school, scary death hunts, and an enemy that everyone is terrified of. Morrigan Crow is a smart heroine with wit, sarcasm, humour, and bravery.

I‘ve been stretching out this book for so long. I never wanted it to end. It‘s one of those books that sinks it‘s claws into you and doesn‘t let go. If my house was burning down and I had to choose only what I could carry, this series would be one of the few things I‘d choose. The intricacies and the web being spun leave me breathless. I love Lada. She‘s so fierce, intelligent, and strong. Her love is deep and she does what needs to be done to protect who and what she loves without thought or fear. She never puts herself first though those around her rarely see it that way. She fights against female norms and strives to be accepted for who she is and does the same for those around her. That ending left me so sad and yet hopeful for the future. She never was one to take it easy

A great new series by Eloisa. The characters were strong and consistent throughout the story and paved the way for the next book. I can guess at a few and am really looking forward to reading them.

This was just simply majestic. I‘m trying to figure out which story was my favourite but I really just loved them all. I liked that they were twists of common fairy tales that we all know like the little mermaid and Hansel and Gretel. They were disturbing and left me wanting more. Just so lovely. Now I want to dive right back into the Grishaverse and relive the books again.

I was a little disappointed by this book as I figured out the ending long before it got to the end. I‘m usually surprised by his endings and am left on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book, devouring them as fast as I can. This one, though interesting and with great ideas, left me feeling like it was forced a bit. I don‘t know if it‘s just me but it didn‘t seem to be like his other books. It was still a good read and I liked it

I love that everything wrapped up neatly and the intrigues brought to light at last. Quite a bit happened in this book and there were some new characters as well as revelations of old ones. The girls make their choices and grow into the women they have been training towards for the past two years. I‘m a little unsure of the ending (I won‘t say what or why as it would spoil). The story was super fun and made me laugh out loud quite a few times.

This series just keeps getting better and better!! As the girls get older they are faced with more difficult choices. Their loyalties are questioned and they start to actually think for themselves. As they start to piece together the plots that have been going on since the first book they realize just how little they know and they must all make a choice as to who they‘re going to side with. They are passing from childhood into adulthood.

Nothing like a creepy read on a late October night to get you all paranoid hahaha. Graham sure knows how to bring history, the paranormal, suspense, and romance all together into a masterpiece. I really like the historical facts that are in her stories and how they connect with present times. The romances take a bit of a back seat to the mysteries and the ghosts, which is nice as they don‘t feel forced or over the top.
