Queer Books | Edmund Pearson
3 posts
This vintage book contains a collection of essays written by Edmund Pearson, and man at one time renowned as the most famous librarian in the United States. This intriguing volume contains essays on a variety of subjects ranging from temperance novels and 4th of July speeches to awful poetry, etiquette books, and beyond. A highly amusing volume, "Queer Books" will appeal to all with a love of language and literature, and it would make for a worthy addition to any collection. Contents include: "Temperance Novels", "Making the Eagle Scream", "Alonzo and Melissa", "The Tribe of Gifted Hopkins", "The Unfortunate Lovers", "Genteel Behaviour, I", "Genteel Behaviour, II", "Crotchets", "Side-Whiskers and Seduction", "The Baedeker of Banner Elk", "Lilies and Languors", "From Sudden Death, I", "From Sudden Death, II", et cetera. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original artwork and text.

Advice appreciated: I am rearranging my shelves and am trying to decide if my LGBTQ+ books should be mixed in with all my other books (which are separated by genre) or if they should be in their own group. Thoughts?

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage How about separate by color? (Rainbow) 5y
tammysue Own group that way easier to find? 5y
Bks4Wrms I agree with @BookHoarder32 5y
PerksOfBeingABookworm @BookHoarder32 @Bks4Wrms my hesitation with organizing by color is that I will never be able to find the book I‘m looking for unless I know the color of its spine. 5y
CouronneDhiver I have about 60 books and love the rainbow shelves set up... You just remember where to look after awhile. 😊 (Same as you currently know to look at a certain section for a mystery, for example) 5y

I had such a lovely time at Glad Day yesterday attending the Naked Hearts Festival (a queer literary festival in Toronto). At one event I heard Larissa Lai, Farzana Doctor, Shani Mootoo, and Shyam Selvadurai! Talk about superstar Canadian queer authors! 😍📚 #queerbooks
