Don't Look Now (UK)
Don't Look Now (UK) | Daphne Du Maurier
5 posts | 7 read | 4 to read
'Now, ill-lit, almost in darkness, the windows of the houses shuttered, the water dank, the scene appeared altogether different, neglected, poor, and the long narrow boots moored to the slippery steps of cellar entrances looked like coffins.' A slow-burning masterpiece of horror recounting a grieving couple's fateful visit to Venice, Don't Look Now is accompanied here by further short tales of desire and dread. I loved this short story by Daphne du Maurier so much, I am putting the story collection on my #BookSpinBINGO card for April. And there‘s a movie! Think I‘ll give that a try as well. 🍿 #aamddm

Thanks for hosting #AuthorAMonth, @Soubhiville ! I‘ve always meant to read beyond Rebecca. ❤️

Only half-way through and already amazed. Such a great read.

It reminded me of the old-fashioned horror-/mystery-stories.

Yeah, I‘m a chicken but I‘m not sure if I would have shuddered the same if I read the original book. The audio play was so brilliantly orchestrated, and as I said, I‘m such a chicken, that listening even gave me goosebumps now, in daylight, while getting ready for my day.

The basic story was okay but together with the effects of the audio play the atmosphere was deeply creepy.

Audiobooking while waiting for the leftovers of my casserole 🥘 to be hot enough to eat. ♨️

Really looking forward to this even though I know it surely will be a very abridged version. (Only 51 minutes overall playing time.)

I found this in my online library by chance while looking for something else. It‘s not the audiobook of the original book, it‘s a criminal audio drama.

But since I only know the title and nothing of the story I decided to lend it because I feel the book is like a classic.
