so-soThis book tells the history of the US national anthem. The highlight is the story behind the song and Francis Scott Key‘s retelling of the attack on Fort McHenry. It was also interesting to learn about how the song evolved to include verses being added/subtracted to attempts to standardize it. The problem was the book never found a happy medium. The first half was too exhaustively detailed at times while the latter half had too much filler.

Forgot 🤦🏼♀️to post this along with my #bookspinbingo anyways a slower June for me but 3 stand outs : Jane Austen‘s book shelves the women who inspired her was amazing 🤩 and was the names by Florence knapp & of course Emma - previously I‘d found Emma annoying but now (much older 😆) I realise it is Austen‘s masterpiece of human nature and characterisation- the woman is a genius 🥰😍 happy #janeaustensummer
pickI adore Backman‘s writing and this had me laughing out loud! Lucas, an introvert, is dragged into interacting with his neighbors and a very meddling apartment board (Head 3, aka Linda, was particularly funny) when a frying pan is not properly disposed of. Things quickly spiral out of control and it‘s up to Lucas to get things in the building back to normal.
