Between Two Shores

The daughter of a Mohawk mother and French father in 1759 Montreal, Catherine Duval finds it is easier to remain neutral in a world that is tearing itself apart. Content to trade with both the French and the British, Catherine is pulled into the fray against her wishes when her British ex- fiance, Samuel Crane, is taken prisoner by her father. Samuel asks her to help him escape, claiming he has information that could help end the war. Peace appeals to Catherine, but helping the man who broke her heart does not. She delays . . . until attempts on Samuel's life convince her he's in mortal danger. Against her better judgment she helps him flee by river, using knowledge of the landscape to creep ever closer to freedom. Their time together rekindles feelings she thought long buried, and danger seems to hound their every mile. She's risked becoming a traitor by choosing a side, but will the decision cost her even more than she anticipated?

Mehso-so

The back cover describes Jocelyn Green as inspiring faith and courage and that shines through her latest historical novel Between Two Shores. My shallow understanding of the war between the British and the French fought in Canada didn‘t prepare me for the brutality. As is often with wars, poverty, disease and the denial of human rights is rife and Jocelyn exposes all of these.

Peace appeals to Catherine but helping the man who broke her heart is not so appealing. Catherine delays trying to help Samuel. Until attempts on his life convince Catherine that Samuel truly is in danger.

I do not have adequate words to describe just how amazing Between Two Worlds is. This book is nothing like what I thought it would be — it is BETTER! Between Two Worlds is a phenomenal Christian, feminist, historical novel that absolutely must be experienced. It does NOT follow the Historical Romance pattern. It beautifully and masterfully turns that pattern on its head. Buy this amazing novel today. You won't be disappointed!

RaimeyGallant Nice review! And a belated welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you need it. Or if you prefer how-to videos, @chelleo put some together at the link in her bio. @LitsyWelcomeWagon 5y

Pickpick

Jocelyn Green painted scenery with words and gave history several faces in Between Two Shores. Using Catherine‘s relationships & experiences, I learned about the French and Indian War and more about the fur trade. Interactions with family, friends, and even enemies revealed much about the characters in Between Two Shores. As Catherine lived & survived among those relationships, she moved from death, loyalty, betrayal, and finally to redemption.

This package hit the spot today after working all night and waking up with a headache after only a short nap. Love the keychain and have to give a shout out to my daughter for the pillow case she made for my husband for Christmas which provides the perfect backdrop. #BetweenTwoShores
