Whilst the following story is completely true, I have slightly changed my own identity in order to avoid prosecution and/or violent death--or, at the very least, a good kicking. Not that any of the events contained herein were my fault--or at least none of the important ones. Or only some of them. Unless you include obtaining money under false pretenses. Or the borrowing of various motor vehicles without permission. Or perverting the course of justice. And, of course, the use of sarcasm and choice language in a built-up area. Oh, and being party to the kidnapping of several young people with multiple disabilities, though that was definitely just a case of being caught up in the excitement of the moment. And the same could really be said about all the explosions, the arson, the molesting of various indigents and the so-called high treason charge that, in my opinion, was trumped up because none of the other stuff was going to stick in court. Or the thing about...

Rant | Alfie Crow

I've just been up to my local library and they were advertising a 'summer reading challenge' I was really excited as previously all the reading challenges had been for under 12s.

The challenge? Reading for 6 minutes a day and sharing it on social media using their hashtag.

I'm not sure why but this annoyed me...6 minutes of reading is a challenge?

Does anyone else agree or is it just me? 😂

Sorry for the low-key rant...

Branwen Only reading six minutes a day seems to be setting the bar really low! 😂 5y
Megabooks Really really low! I don‘t think that‘s going to stop summer slide! 5y
jb72 Wow that‘s super low! I wonder why six minutes and not ten or fifteen? Very strange. I wish our library had a summer reading program for adults. 5y

suzie.reads I guess if you don't read at all then reading for 6 minutes is 6 times what you normally do. Not alot for me but for some it can be 😁 5y
emilyrose_x @suzie.reads Yes, I suppose it is good for someone who doesn't read at all...I think the whole thing about sharing 6 minutes of reading on social media seemed a bit ridiculous though 😂 5y
Soubhiville Yeah that seems like a throw away just to give the adults a little something. Our library wasn‘t much better: read ONE BOOK! And get a pin. That‘s it. 😐 5y
sprainedbrain Wow... 6 minutes is not much. I read that much before my morning shower. 😂 5y
Scochrane26 That‘s not a good challenge. My library has been doing 5 hrs reading/listening or 3hrs reading/attending a library program for yrs. you‘re allowed 3 entries a week. They have good prizes from a random drawing each week. That‘s the adult summer reading. Not sure what the children‘s one is, but I know it‘s similar. (edited) 5y
KathyWheeler 6 minutes? I guess that‘s better than nothing, but it‘s a weird number. I wonder what the rationale for choosing that number was. 5y
agrondin44 That is indeed really low... but kids do not read much anymore... I am a teacher and it is a struggle to have them read... so sad.
