'Short, original fables with fresh, unexpected morals poke subtle fun at human foibles through the antics of animals. . . . The droll illustrations, with tones blended to luminescent shading, are complete and humorous themselves.' -- Association of Library Service to Children, ALA.

Review: Fables by Arnold Lobel, 1980 is a traditional storybook that is a collection of 20 fables all combined in one book. Each is a page and tells a silly story of fictional characters.
Blurb: It's a great book to do a unit on fables, each story could be read at a different time instead of all in one day and the children could pick their favorite one and go further in depth with it.
Quote: “They found one, and it took them safely to the pond.“

This TL book was awarded the Caldecott Honor and would be a great addition to any 3rd-5th grade classroom. This book is comprised of 20 different short fables that are fun and interesting to read. Each one teaches a different “lesson” and for that reason it would be best RA in the classroom.

Summerm The UDL principles that would best be utilized in this story would be 7.3 (foster collaboration and community) & 3.3 (guide information processing and visualization) also, the EL strategies that would best fit for this would be 2 (promote cooperation) & 14 (simplify your speech by making it slower and redundant) #ucflae3414su19 (edited) 5y
Summerm 7.3 Foster collaboration and community - by doing this is allows the students to work together and share their ideas.

2 (By promoting cooperation, this helps the class by letting them know what is expected and what is not expected)

Caldecott and was written in 1980. This book isnt one story or telling different views. The book has many different short stories that tell tales. The characters in these stories are only animals, but they do talk. The illustrations of this book are beautiful and colorful.
