No Hard Feelings
No Hard Feelings: Emotions at Work and How They Help Us Succeed | Liz Fosslien, Mollie West Duffy
Have you ever worried about showing emotion at work, or panicked you've revealed too much of your personality? In No Hard Feelings, you'll learn how to navigate the emotional minefield that is the modern workplace, and express your feelings and identity at work. After all, the financial success of the 21st century depends on it. Without the ability to communicate and correct stress, we risk burnout. Without emotions, we cannot make decisions, influence others, or be creative. As our jobs become more collaborative, complex, and stressful - as well as the centre of our identities - effectively embracing emotion will only become more important. Combining behavioural economics and psychology with sharp, funny and colourful illustrations, No Hard Feelings shows readers how to be more authentic, productive, and happy at work. Liz Fosslien is a marketing and design consultant who illustrates the webcomic Out of the Office, and her work has been featured by the Economist, the Freakonomics blog, and NPR. Mollie West Duffy is an organizational designer at IDEO and a professor at Stanford University where she teaches design. She writes a blog and advises companies on start-up culture.

The visual layout of this book made it a good one for breakfast reading before work. Nothing here was Earth shattering, but it was a very good reminder of how to handle emotions at work.

Larkken I‘ll have to suggest this for my at-work book club! 1y
Bookwormjillk @Larkken I think it would be a really good one for a group discussion! 1y

Had to read this 4 work. Hence the post-its! This was an informative read & one that working people should read. I‘ll admit some of the chapters were triggering for me bc of where I‘m at in my career & past decisions, but overall am glad I read it. The illustrations make it a very readable book.

No Hard Feelings: the secret power of embracing emotions at work is a book I've been reading off and on at work, which I think I heard about on the Get Booked podcast. Helpful advice for dealing with emotions of others, using your own emotions as a tool for decision making and more. The first idea I want to apply is "user manuals" where people get to share their perspective of how they think/work.

I loved this book and need my own copy. I especially liked the chapters on spreading the emotional culture out from yourself, and on the difference between task conflicts and relationship conflicts. I liked the cartoons and the links to other resources as well.
