Honeysmoke by Monique Fields is a great book to teach kids about diversity and self identity. Simone is a biracial young girl who is trying to figure out her identity. She knows that she is not black like her mom, not white like her dad. She thinks long and hard about who she is and what her parents remind her of. At the end of the story she comes up with her very own unique identity and word for herself. Total must have. #UCFLAE3414F19
Great book to help kids understand different skin colors.
This book is about a biracial child and her efforts to find “her color”. It is interesting and progressive to some extent, but possibly confining in other ways. I don‘t know how I feel about it. Thoughts?
