Walking Dead Volume 3: Safety Behind Bars
Walking Dead Volume 3: Safety Behind Bars | Robert Kirkman
14 posts | 68 read | 7 to read
The world we knew is gone. The world of commerce and frivolous necessity has been replaced by a world of survival and responsibility. An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months society has crumbled: no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled by the dead, the survivors are forced to finally start living. This volume follows our band of survivors as they set up a permanent camp inside a prison. Relationships change, characters die, and our team of survivors learn there's something far more deadly than zombies out there: each other. Reprint Edition

Rick and the group run into more survivors as they search for a place to settle. The new people though have hidden agendas that quickly come to light causing violence to erupt bringing out a side of Rick we haven't seen before.

Side note: in volume 2 and 3 the artwork changes some, and although I still love the story, I'm not a fan of the change.

Comic book prompt- this is the 3rd in the series and these are the only comic/ graphic novels I‘ve ever tried I need to explore the format more because so far I‘m thinking it may not be for me, plus with this I have a hard time separating it from the show 🤔 #booked2019 @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft

BarbaraTheBibliophage Good job on getting it done. Graphic novels are so widely varied in story and art. You may find some others that are more to your liking. Or not. 🤪 5y
Cinfhen It‘s not my favorite medium either 🤷🏼‍♀️ 5y

Rick Grimes‘ group is searching for a place they can call home. On their journey, they discover a prison. Here, they meet Dexter, Axel, Andrew, and Thomas, prisoners who have been locked in the cafeteria. Both groups are coexisting because they have food and shelter. Unfortunately, death will cause some of the residents to experience everlasting pain. Who dies? Who is the murderer? Have the deaths caused an end to their peace? Read to find out.

I used to watch The Walking Dead but then I became bored and lost interest. Then I was at the library and saw the graphic novels and I thought what the heck, I'll give them a go and I liked them!

Started reading this last night. So caught up in it all.

Jazruiz.2014 Is it like the tv series? 7y
Txdmarie @Jazruiz.2014 it is but it‘s different. I watch the series and love the graphic novels. Different enough to keep me interested in reading 7y

Wow so I told my hubs that I understand why they had to change some of the storylines. TWD is dark. Poor Herschel. Poor Tyreese (who is much more badass than his tv show counterpart.) Also I still hate hate hate Lori but at least Rick told her to stfu in the comics.

I'm so glad these comics are done in black/white/gray - I wouldn't like all that gore in detail. The comics seem to move a lot faster than the show - I don't remember them finding the prison so quickly but it's been awhile since I watched it.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa You are correct! They didn't find the prison until like season 3? 8y

The gang finds the prison and its inhabitants. Lori is annoying as ever. Tyreese is a bad ass. Carol and Tyreese, Dale and Andrea... are 'together' ...Whaaaa!! A few more characters have been weeded out. So many differences between the show and the comics. Love it! #twd #allthebooks #volume4upnext #scarefestcontinues #roamersnotwalkers

MyNamesParadise I love the walking dead comic books. Enjoy!!! 8y
Bette Glad there are some differences so the show can be surprising. 👍❤️☺️ 8y

I'm liking the comics more and more. It's just different enough from the show to make it really interesting. Can't wait for the season premiere this Sunday! #thewalkingdead 🔫⛓🔫

Rick, I can't condone this treatment but I can't say I blame you either.
