This book encompasses many aspects that affect our lives today: racism, prejudice, drugs, & others. However, the book incorporates them in the plot & doesn‘t revolve around those themes. The book is an quick, easy read focusing on a bank heist from the inside. Main character is thoroughly developed. There are many sexual references/situations, some weren‘t needed as part of the story line. Also, a fairly predictable ending. Still a good quick read.

Written for teens, I took this off my daughter‘s book shelf. I didn‘t have high expectations for the book, and after the second chapter, I thought I knew the direction the book was going. Boy was I wrong! Well written, it tells of a family moving to a new town and a 50yr legend about their home. The woods are dark and scary with an ominous presence. Children are warned not to go out into the woods alone. What will happen if they do?

This book is not a “typical” book I would read.
However, this book was very intriguing. It is not written as a “dry” nonfiction. The author did a great job including the facts without bias. It gives insight into the Vietnam War as well as ins and outs & dealings within the White House, and abroad. It gave me a better understanding of what occurred during the Vietnam War & the Watergate Scandal. Factual and enthralling. Highly Recommend

This book is very interesting and provides good insight into the Vietnam War.

5/5.
I highly recommend this book. This book kept me enthralled the entire time.
The prologue is important to read to gain insight into the book. The book is divided into sections with the biggest section The Account of Roderick Macrae.
Although I knew how the book would end, I found myself hoping for the opposite. It reads like a mystery novel, and keeps you guessing about Roddy‘s sanity to the very end.

“I was not looking to him for wit or intellect; he had a pair of eyes in his head, and it was these of which I wished to make use.”
Very interesting quote from a psychologist. Shouldn‘t the person you are speaking with regarding the nature and mental stability of a person have wit and intellect?
I now see why @ReadingOver50 was aggravated with this psychologist & his demeanor.

3.5/5
This book had me hooked the entire time. I was engrossed in every page and enjoyed thoroughly enjoyed it. However, and a BIG however, the ending was very subpar. What took the author almost 400 pages to build up to, was wrapped up in one chapter. “And then....and then...and then...” was literally the last chapter. There was the climax of the book and then it was done. I was highly disappointed with the ending. The only reason for the So-So.

The book engaging as the main character, Bruno, was in "Out-With" with his family, his father being one of the commanders in the Fury. Written in a child's perspective, any knowledge of the Holocaust &/or treatment of Jews is limited. The ending is abrupt and not the way I would expect it, or any book to end! That is the reason for a so-so rating. Overall it was a good book.

Someone gave me this book after reading it for her high school English class. I'm so glad she did. It's very intense and does have graphic details of what he saw as a boy soldier. The book gives insight into the mind of a young child soldier. How they feel and how they get the mindset of killing.

This book was recommended by someone close to me. I had unsure about it at first. After the 3 chapters, I was hooked. It's a very interesting story that shows how lives of people we've never met, met but may not have intimately know, and our loved ones affect our lives in ways we may never truly understand. I will buy to reread again! #Fascinating #mustread

I usually do not care for biographies or autobiographies but this book was amazing. Loved every minute of this book. This one I couldn't put down. I finished the book and was ready to open it again to reread. It was witty, intriguing, and insightful. It is very interesting to see the subtle similarities of our country and South Africa. I WILL purchase this book to read it again.
