Loved listening to this book! Half of the book is written in “kebab-Norwegian” a Multiethnolect (mixture between Norwegian, Spanish, Kurdish, Arabic, Pashto, Somali, Persian, Urdu, Punjabi) so I found it hard to read but enjoyed listening to! Used to teach children speaking that language so it was a little bit like coming home 😉

My current read. Will be published in English soon. Our Street is about two young boys who grow up as Norwegian-born children of first-generation immigrants. In the same apartment block in Tante Ulrikke's street in Stovner Oslo. Mo (Mohammed) and the equally old Jamal live two different lives. The story of the two main characters runs like two parallel stories in the book, conveyed by the youth themselves, in their own language. #immigration

My reading spot in the greenhouse today. The rain is poring down and it‘s only 10 degrees Celsius outside (50F)!! I should have brought a blanket. When other parts of Europe is practically melting we have the coldest June-month in many years. #readingspot

Norwegian book about two boys that grew up the same place as me in Norway, so I just had to read it. Loved the first half, and related so much to the story! Something that is weird because our childhood was quite different. But I got lost at the last half, it was like the author knew he had a voice and it become to political for my taste. Think it's becoming a movie, don't know if it's translated to other languages
