pickAnd yet again a middle grade book reduces me to tears. This is so good and rings so true, it‘s just that you don‘t want it to be happening. Thoroughly recommend.
Next off the tbr shelf is Five Children on the Western Front, which has been waiting to be read so long that my copy is a proof. It was published in October 2014. I think I got this from the magic shelf at work a few months after that, but that‘s still nearly 3 years...

pickWhilst reading this, I didn't really understand the point of it - but upon finishing it and reading the author's note, it is clear that this book, importantly, is about remembering those that were lost during the war and the suffering endured. A great book and a relatively quick read - 4/5⭐️s

Liking this book so far - it's very intruguing and I know lots of people who have recommended it. It's on the Carnegie Medal Shortlist.
pickWritten as a sequel to the classic, the Psammead returns at the start of WW1. The family will not be the same by the end of the book.
