The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching
The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching | Thich Nhat Hanh
If there is a candidate for Living Buddha on earth today, it is Thich Nhat Hanh. Richard Baker-roshi In The Heart of the Buddhas Teaching, now with added material and new insights, Thich Nhat Hanh introduces us to the core teachings of Buddhism and shows us that the Buddhas teachings are accessible and applicable to our daily lives. With poetry and clarity, Nhat Hanh imparts comforting wisdom about the nature of suffering and its role in creating compassion, love, and joy all qualities of enlightenment. Covering such significant teachings as the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Three Doors of Liberation, the Three Dharma Seals, and the Seven Factors of Awakening, The Heart of the Buddhas Teaching is a radiant beacon on Buddhist thought for the initiated and uninitiated alike. Thich Nhat Hanh shows us the connection between personal, inner peace, and peace on earth. His Holiness the Dalai Lama Thich Nhat Hanh is a real poet. Robert Lowell From the Trade Paperback edition.

I found out that Thich Nhat Hanh passed away recently and feel really sad about it - he was absolutely brilliant and this book of his is probably the most influential (on me at least) of all the books I've ever read. I wanted to share💛

Okie dokie - partaking in my 1st proper Litsy ~ thing ~ (idk what you'd call this sorry haha)

I have read 10 books so far this year:

0% = black/indigenous
30% = nbpoc
10% = lgbtqia+

I am VERY much looking to improve these stats and I'm excited to do so!! I already have a couple of books that should be arriving soon that will allow me to make a good start😊

ChasingOm Oooh, the tagged book is a great one! 4y
Moll @ChasingOm Honestly a life-changer!! (Thank you for running this by the way - it's fab) 4y

I am loving learning more about Buddhism & this book is one that I adored. Thich Nhat Hanh writes so clearly yet so poetically; whenever I read anything by him (or about Buddhism in general tbh) I'm brought such a sense of calm. I think I'm going to return to at least sections of this one again and again⭐

Taking in the awe-inspiring beauty of Cambodia, from its vibrant and warm culture to the incredible temples~~all accompanied by this lovely little book, which is helping me dive into the spirituality of Buddhist belief and understand this all on a much deeper level. Truly humbled and in love with this side of the world! #booksaroundtheworld

Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything - anger, anxiety, or possessions - we cannot be free.

Our suffering is holy if we embrace it and look deeply into it. If we don't, it isn't holy at all. We just drown in the ocean of our own suffering.
