“Old Mother Goose, When she wanted to wander, Would ride through the air, On a very fine gander.“
“Old Mother Goose, When she wanted to wander, Would ride through the air, On a very fine gander.“
Almost all of the poems include a rhyming aspect that is very fun and easy to read. Children would love to be able to hear these poems read out loud!
Mother Goose written and illustrated by Tomie DePaola was published in 2009. It is a collection of traditional Mother Goose Rhymes that children love. The poems are cheerful and humorous and star the character Mother Goose and the familiar cast of characters. Parents can read these rhymes to young children or young readers can read them on their own.
“Gentlemen come every day/ To see what my black hen doth lay.“ This is an example of some old English in these poems.
I think that the illustrations in this anthology are very niche and resemble comfort. The poems all have a happy upbeat style and rhythm. Most of these poems have old English which can be confusing for younger children but can also be a great lesson in teaching how language has transformed.
This book is an anthology of all the Mother Goose poems. It has about 120 pages of different poems, jingles, and ditty's. All fo thee poems I have either heard or read before. I really liked reading these poems because they also remind me of my childhood.
I would definitely use this poetry book in my classroom. It is a great book to read to young children when introducing the topic of poetry. It rhymes and has good rythms and alliteration. Peter the pumpkin eater is something I used to read myself as a kid and it has stuck with me through all these years.
I reviewed this poem in the collection: Peter the pumpkin eater. This entire collection is a great example of poetry books because it uses repetition and rhyming words mand are simple and short. This poetry book is appropriate for young children because it is simple and uses repetition which is easy to read and understand for young children.
