I quite enjoyed this standalone. Sometimes I find Connelly's details tedious, but this time it worked for me. I also appreciate the nuanced psychology of both the "good guys" and the "bad guys." It helps the characters seem more real and three-dimensional.

This was good! Marked as a part of the Bosch universe, but reads like a standalone and differs from the others because it takes place entirely on the other side of the law. Cassie Black is out on parole, but soon gets drawn into taking another job. A Vegas heist gone wrong leads to a tense game of cat and mouse with a fixer who doesn't leave witnesses. I hope Cassie and Bosch cross paths at some point!
