Pickpick

This was a fairly good read, with an interesting take on vampires and a gang of engaging and amusing characters. I will say the writing felt…cumbersome at times and I think it could have been shorter without hurting the plot any. A decent twist at the end, and a bit of a cliffhanger to keep you interested. I‘d probably read more by this author.

I started this one a long time ago and wasn't in the right head space for it, so I abandoned it. A few days ago, I decided to pick it back up. It took a minute to get back into the story. Of course, now I'm a bit upset that it left on a sort of cliffhanger... I have some library loans I needed to give my attention to first. I'll probably start the next book at some point later this week, even though I want to start it tomorrow.

Why didn‘t anyone force-feed me this book earlier!? What a delight. I loved all the characters. These kids (and they are KIDS) are so complex, broken, and lovable. It‘s like if Ocean‘s 11 had a bunch of teens risking it all for a fat wad of cash and maybe also preventing genocide (or at best, a drug epidemic). You‘re left on a cliffhanger, but this is part one of a duology. I‘m excited to join the adventure.

Um, I‘m not really sure about this one. Just when I would think “I expected more funny(based on the synopsis)” it would then be a bit more comical. When I thought “I thought this was a queer story too” it would add a slight bit of queerness…. And then the ending solidified that this is really based on a true story, with liberties, but I still felt fairly detached. Fully admit that could be me right now though.

Almost done with the move. Got the bathrooms cleaned and organized this week. Now on to the bedrooms. It‘s been a huge headache. I‘ll be glad when I‘m done and can sleep. 😴 😆

@Blerdgal_Fenix Thank you thank you thank you! It is after midnight where I am and I‘ve been feeling poorly, so I broke in to the #fffs box. It‘s wonderful! Everything is such a great level of cute/spooky, and I only wish I could wrap half as well as you. Can‘t wait to dive in after my current reads! #spooky #pusheens approve. #fallingforfallswap

Mehso-so

A group of ace and aro teens (plus one tween) internet friends meet up, and to support one of their own, carry out a heist. I have questions about some elements, and never got fully invested in the main character's plight. I also wish the mom had been more developed and less of a concept driving the plot. #LGBTQIA #Heist #YoungAdult

Pickpick

This one was very hard to pin down for me. I'm calling it a soft pick, but just barely.

The character concepts and the premise were unique enough to hold my attention and keep me reading, but the narrative did fall prey to over-explanation in many places, and yet it also had several elements that were a bit confusing and under explained.

I'm still undecided about whether or not I will pick up the next book.
