I found a lot of this to be a bit boring, but the second half of the book picked up and made things interesting. It barely reached 3 stars for me, but I might continue the story whenever the next book comes out.

This will probably be the last book I finish this year, and it‘s a good way to end it. This was a lot of fun and would honestly be an easy one for me to recommend to a lot of people. Complex characters? ✔️ Propulsive plot? ✔️ Interesting world building? ✔️ Vivid writing? ✔️ There‘s magic/fantasy but it‘s mainly a heist story. And there‘s romance but it‘s not the main plot. Found family, an anti-hero you can root for, diverse cast. Easily 4.5 stars

Kind of awesome to read an incredibly popular book and discover that damn, it really is that good!

Left work a little early today for an appointment. Won‘t be back until January 5th! Woohoo! 🎉 After my appointment I had a late lunch and some time to read. The next few days will be busy with holiday travel and family gatherings, but by Saturday, I will have NOTHING(!) on my calendar!

I never would have picked out this book for myself - the tale of a former getaway driver signing on for one last heist. But my book club picked it so I dutifully read it and liked it! I loved how the mc grappled with family issues and how to break the cycle. I didn‘t love the ending which my book club sort of disagreed with me about. Bonus points for a Black author and Black characters.

Diving back into Six of Crows while enjoying some oatmeal with bananas and maple syrup.

Thank you @LiseWorks for helping me finish Blacktop Wasteland in time for book club!

Loving the #AuldLangSpine list from @willaful
I had already started the tagged, but haven‘t read any of the others! But I‘ve enjoyed the other Poirot mysteries I‘ve read and have wanted to read more Pratchett since reading a novella in a collection earlier this year. And I think Tom Lake looks good. Going to see what my library has available and then plan from there!
Thanks again to @monalyisha for her matchmaking skills!

“‘No problem. I‘ll just bring up Helvar.‘ Jesper glanced back at the wheel as they set off down the opposite side of the deck. Kaz hadn‘t moved. He was still watching them, his eyes hard, his face as unreadable as ever.”

Well written and very engaging.
Maya is studying in earth, but when her friend asks her to help steal a lost artifact crucial to their people, Maya joins the new crew and they embark on a galaxy wide adventure full of forgotten memories, visions of the future, and alien museums.
4.5/5 read for a Laura Croft type hero who wants to her help her friend but must choose if that help is worth the cost humanity
