Pagan Portals - Irish Paganism
Pagan Portals - Irish Paganism: Reconstructing Irish Polytheism | Morgan Daimler
3 posts | 4 read | 2 to read
Irish Reconstructionist Polytheism is an often misunderstood path, but it is one with great richness and depth for those who follow it. This short introductory book touches on the basic beliefs and practices of Irish Polytheism as well as other important topics for people interested in practicing the religion using a Reconstructionist methodology or who would just like to know more about it. Explore the cosmology of the ancient Irish and learn how the old mythology and living culture show us the Gods and spirits of Ireland and how to connect to them. Ritual structure is explored, as well as daily practices and holidays, to create a path that brings the old beliefs forward into the modern world.

A lot was packed into less than 200 pages. Daimler didn‘t go into great depth on anything, but get a good look at the general nature of Irish Reconstructionist Polytheism. This is a great, well written, scholarly, concise starting point. In fact, I wish I had started with this book.

GingerAntics Even though I didn‘t, this book is still valuable because it emphasises that each person‘s path or “version” will be slightly different, so it removes some of the pressure to “do it right.” 5y

Started this book on the 30th and totally forgot to post about it. Whoops! Other than the fact I still take issue with the word “pagan” and I‘m down with everything but the “gods and goddesses of Ireland are real” thing...let‘s just say I‘m hoping this makes something click for me.

Interesting, scholarly, and well written. Helpful in thinking about my own path.
