🌀 this book opened doors that I‘m still learning how to walk-through. & for that, I know I‘ll be returning to it‘s pages later on in life. I feel it reaching toward me, but there are pieces I know I‘ll understand more deeply with time and experience. #nonfiction #audiobook #feminism #naturalitsy #reading #bibliophile #uncommon

As powerful as Blackie's words are- I have a problem with such stark contrast between lyrical storytelling & the raw, messy edges of everyday life...
However, I admire that she shares voices of other women, offering #ecofeminism & real-life examples of how we can shape our own journey & bring that wisdom back into your immediate world.

Found this re-telling of The Grimm' s "Six Swans" to be compelling and evocative. There was beautiful world building and Sorcha, the heroine, was strong. I found the last few chapters dragged. The fairy tale was complete so they were dedicated to completing the love story and I'm not much of a romance reader.
Still, it was good. And I think I'll take a break from fairy tales for a while.
This very simple and charming story is about a girl who is sent back to the islands of her birth to live with her grandparents. She has vague memories of her time there, but one very strong one: her baby brother being swept out to see in his boat-like cradle. She is determined to find out what became of him.
I really wanted to love this. I do love the term hagitude and I am finally embracing my cronehood. But there was too much psychology and not enough mythology for me. And then the author states that there should be gathering places for women who were born as women, basically saying that it's OK to exclude trans folx in certain cases. So yeah, not great. We don't all need the exact same experience to relate.
April‘s #DoubleSpin is clear—and is also my #44 pick for #50x50. For my #BookSpin, I get to pick a book published in the 1950s—70s for #192025. Above are the three I‘m thinking about… any recommendations?

📖 Sun Dancing: A Vision of Medieval Ireland by Geoffrey Moorhouse
I read this a long time ago but really loved it. I keep meaning to read more in the series. Happy St. Patrick's Day to all who observe it. My husband made this Guinness and Baileys Irish creme frosting cake. (He used Guinness zero in the cake, and Irish cream flavored coffee syrup with Irish butter for the frosting to make it sober friendly.) My tea was Irish Breakfast. Carrigaline pottery.
