Becoming Us
Becoming Us: A Gather Novel | Robin Jones Gunn
6 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
From the author of the best-selling Christy Miller and SisterChicks series comes a new book of community, friendship, and tackling the hard things of life with God and loved ones around a table. Five young moms, including beloved Gunn character Christy Miller, gather to share meals and soon become unlikely best friends. The regular gatherings provide opportunities for the women to reveal their stories, and those life stories endear them to each other. They experience their lives naturally meshing as they raise their children together in community. In Becoming Us the group find ways to challenge, encourage, and help each other become the nurturing mothers they wished they'd had when they were growing up. They unite to be remembered for what they do as moms and not for what was done to them.

Let's be honest when you find your "people" aka ladies who fangirl over fictional characters you create a book club to gush over all things series related. Even better? Our group was chosen to test a downloadable author pack ♡ In a podcast just released this week, author Robin Jones Gunn even mentions us! If we weren't already swooning, now we are even more! MaggieCarr @BookDragonNotWorm in all honesty, it came together so easily. When I heard a new title was coming out I created a public event party of Facebook and was shocked to learn so many of my friends also enjoyed the same author. Many didnt know each other, but due to our gathering are becoming friends now too ♡ we even have our next gathering planned. All you can do is try. Good luck! 6mo

Becoming Us is the first Robin Jones Gunn novel I‘ve read, but it will not be the last. The writing is flawless, the storyline captivated my interest from page one and held it until the end, and the themes are timely. I especially appreciate the sense of female solidarity created when mothers get together to share their stories and their fears and their flaws and their hopes and dreams. Becoming Usleft me feeling uplifted to say the least!

This book was exactly what I needed at this point in my life. I'm mourning lifelong friendships that are getting too hard to maintain and in a season of feeling uninvited, and unknown. It's the beginning of a series (sub-series if you read all of this author's books, as many characters shift series to series) but it could be read alone. I loved that the story didn't have a huge climax, it felt like real day-to-day life. New friends, connecting. 5☆

Prettytears I enjoy quiet books of this sort, there's always that day when reading them is exactly what you need😊 8mo
MaggieCarr @Prettytears exactly! Best yet!?! I bought it, now I can experience this feeling of peace everytime I see it on my bookshelf. ♡ 8mo
