The Daughters of Zeus, Book One "Persephone is a fun, imaginative, smart retelling of my favorite myth, fusing modern culture with a rich world of magic." Amazon Top Reviewer, Molly Ringle, Author of Persephone's Orchard. One day Persephone is an ordinary high school junior working at her mom's flower shop in Athens, Georgia. The next she's fighting off Boreas, the brutal god of Winter, and learning that she's a bonafide goddess--a rare daughter of the now-dead Zeus. Her goddess mom whisks her off to the Underworld to hide until Spring. There she finds herself under the protection of handsome Hades, the god of the dead, and she's automatically married to him. It's the only way he can keep her safe. Older, wiser, and far more powerful than she, Hades isn't interested in becoming her lover, at least not anytime soon. But every time he rescues her from another of Boreas' schemes, they fall in love a little more. Will Hades ever admit his feelings for her? Can she escape the grasp of the god of Winter's minions? The Underworld is a very nice place, but is it worth giving up her life in the realm of the living? Her goddess powers are developing some serious, kick-butt potential. She's going to fight back. "I enjoyed Hades and Persephone's sweet romantic relationship. Persephone has her flaws, but she is likable and learns along the way. The author's writing is descriptive and entertaining. I am looking forward to the next book." Rebecca Foote @ Paranormal Muse "Everyone needs to check this book out, I can't rave enough about it, Bevis is definitely a new talent to keep an eye out for. I give this 5/5." Sarah Brown @ Head Stuck in a Book "I found this book to be a fun and fast-paced adventure through Greek mythology with a modern twist." Stephanie Ward @ A Dream Within a Dream "From the first paragraph, I was enthralled with this story. I read it all in one sitting and enjoyed every minute of it. What a great spin on a Greek myth! Move over Rick Riordan!" Amazon Top Reviewer, Rita Webb, Author of Daughter of the Goddess "This story will completely suck you in . . . . This book is the first of a trilogy, and I can't wait to see what's in store for these amazing characters." Amazon Top Reviewer, Melissa Groeling, Author of Beauty Marks Kaitlin Bevis spent her childhood curled up with a book and a pen. If the ending didn't agree with her, she rewrote it. Because she's always wanted to be a writer, she spent high school and college learning everything she could to achieve that goal. After graduating college with a BFA and Masters in English, Kaitlin went on to write The Daughters of Zeus series. kaitlinbevis.com

Didn't quite get my second book finished for #eclecticreadathon but I did get more reading done than I thought I would since I've had a busy couple of days. 😃

#readingwithafriend haha! My cat is also helping to warm me up after I got soaked in rain while at food fest this afternoon. I still have wet hair and am just a bit chilly. Now to (hopefully) finish Persephone before #eclecticreadathon wraps up.

monkeygirlsmama My daughter's cat and some stuffed animals my students gifted me were my #readingwithafriend buddies. 😂 (edited) 7y
brilliantglow @monkeygirlsmama 😂those are the best reading buddies 7y
monkeygirlsmama @brilliantglow They really are cause they're so quiet. They don't ask you questions when you're in the middle of a paragraph. They don't complain you're reading too much. They're just all around perfect. 😄 7y
brilliantglow @monkeygirlsmama Yes! And the cats purr and make everything even more comfy 7y

I just spent the last 45 minutes re-entering changes that I've made to my reading log over the last month and a bit😧 Not sure how the data was lost but somehow it didn't save properly over onedrive and it corrupted when I synced my onedrive today. Guess I need to keep a backup copy better up to date.

bookwrm526 Oh, that would drive me nuts! Paranoia about it is why I still can't manage to give up my paper journal lol 7y
brilliantglow @bookwrm526 I've thought about doing a paper journal but I love excel. And it's so much easier to re-sort or have it tally data for me than to have to rewrite something or manually count through hundreds of written entries. This way I can see immediately that I've read 20,446 pages so far this year or that I've read 7 books by Irish authors because I have it set up to tally all that data (and so much more) for me automatically. 7y
bookwrm526 @brilliantglow oh, I totally agree, and I use an excel spreadsheet too, especially for the details! The paper journal is a backup, and also for writing down thoughts and new words and things like that - so that if something happens to my spreadsheet I can recreate it lol 7y

mcctrish Holy smokes, we need to have another Litsy meet up and only talk about this amazingness 7y
brilliantglow @bookwrm526 Hmm I never thought of keeping track of stuff like new words but that's a great use for a paper journal. I've also never kept track of my thoughts about the books I've read. I think mostly because I'm not great at putting my feelings or thoughts to paper. I dunno I've always admired that method but my approach to a reading log has always been analytical and hard data lol as well as my rating out of 5 stars. 7y
brilliantglow @mcctrish anytime! I can send you a blank copy😉 7y

HARD pass on this one. I got maybe 30 pages in until I just couldn't do it any more. Too many typos, too many cliches. Overall rather uninspired. Who knows- maybe it gets better later on? 😕 But I just don't have the time to find out.

Please... just say "death glare" in the future. ? I shouldn't have to stop and Google a definition for a light and cute YA read.

This is a 16 year old POV, no teen would use this phrase!

Panpan

I wanted a fun YA fantasy, but this wasn't what I was looking for. I couldn't decide if I wanted it to be more epic, longer, more complicated, or darker and more satirical. It fails at all of those.
