At Any Price (A Gaming the System Novel) by Brenna Aubrey Achievement Unlocked: Geek Virgin When Mia Strong, proud geek-girl and popular gaming blogger, auctions off her virginity online, she knows she'll make waves. But what she will not be making is a love connection. Her rules are set in stone: One night. No further contact. It's a desperate step, but it's the only way she can go to medical school and pay her mother's mounting hospital bills. Difficulty Level: Millionaire CEO Adam Drake, the enigmatic auction winner, is a software prodigy who made his first million at seventeen. So this was a re-read for me, I read this years ago and I remember really liking it. I read this before 50 shades back then and now that I‘ve read 50shades I had no idea how similar the stories are lol I still think it‘s pretty cool especially for a #freebie

That moment when you realize that you just can't enjoy this book, might actually hate it, and life is too short for bad lit! At least my breakfast was tasty! 😋

Seriously though, the premise of this book had so much potential for being a great fluffy romance! Unfortunately, this reads like fanfic of 50 Shades, which is Twilight fanfic. I hated Twilight, and I just can't spend more of my time on similar lit. #DNF #LifeIsTooShort

the.bookish.valkyrie @Lcsmcat right?! It's my current addiction! I try to stay away, but it calls to me! Have you tried it with the raspberry sweetener? The addiction gets worse! 7y

I actually interrupted my current read to check out this freebie on Kindle. While it had lots of similarities to 50 Shades, it wasn't as dark (the hero's addiction was not bedroom-related). Both leads had control and past-related issues to deal with. The heroine's scheme to earn $ didn't endear her to me but overall the growth of both leads was satisfying. It's actually between a pick and a so-so for me. #romantsy #osrbc

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Unlike *other* contemporary fiction writers, the nature of the story telling here is believable.

I have been reading a fair bit of contemporary and they're usually the same thing - our lovers fall head over heels in love, very minimal issues amongst themselves, intense whirlwind romance then some external conflict comes around *eyeroll*

I love how REAL the characters are. It doesn't feel forced. Solid all around.

I just finished this NA book by Brenna Aubrey, my first read by her. I really enjoyed it! It gave me a few laughs, caused a few tears. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a NA with some nerdiness thrown in, both the hero and heroine are gamers. Also this book is free on Amazon right now and is the first of a three part (considered a cliffhanger). #osrbc #romantsy
