I love a book that pulls emotions and thoughts out of me. OMG! This book did that on so many levels. I loved it so much. I didn‘t know who to cheer for. This book left me with all the feels. I needed a recovery period and frequent breaks to process. That‘s all the signs of a good book to me. #blacklitsy #blitsy

Geenie The title...❤️ 5y

It was a really interesting book. I listened to the audiobook , it was pretty sad to listen since it‘s about a type of revenge against slavery. It was a bold book to write. There will probably be a sequel.

GreenGrl87 I agree, definitely thought this was a really interesting concept for a story. 5y

I'm going to be caught up in this thriller for a long time. It keeps popping into my mind. Black men seek absolute "in kind" revenge for the atrocities of slavery. Their logic is eerily sensible but the consequences of that logic are frightening.

I picked up this book because Rincy and Katie recommended this on the Read or Dead podcast @bookriot . It wasn‘t horrible, in fact it was OK, it just wasn‘t for me. It started out quite slow and it did not pick up until about half way through the book when everything came together.

CouronneDhiver Is that the same Rincy that has her own YouTube channel? 7y
LisaJo @CouronneDhiver I am not sure. I would suspect yes if her YouTube videos are about books. Hey Littens, do you know the answer to the question? 7y
Notafraidofwords @LisaJo she also manages Book riots YouTube channel. 7y
CouronneDhiver Very cool. I‘m starting to realize that this community is, in many ways, a small one. 7y

Walking to the library to return my book so that I could finish off my audio was a bad idea, what a miserable day for a walk. But this book was fascinating - I don‘t want to say much because it takes a long time for the plot to really start unfolding but man, totally compelling. Just be warned, it‘s very slow in the beginning with more detail than necessary but totally worth it.

Bookmarkie This looks good. I've never heard of it. 7y
LisaJo Just finished this book. I think your review is spot on. It wasn‘t until around page 150 that it picked up for me. 7y
janeycanuck @LisaJo yeah, the beginning was a bit of a slow burn, wasn‘t it? I think he could have tightened the first hundred pages up a bit but I‘ll take it how it was written over not reading it at all! 7y

Started my long weekend off right with a puzzle and this audio that both Rincey and Katie have been raving about on the @bookriot Read or Dead podcast.

I'm trying again with this book. I had to take a break because while I am intrigued by the plot the writing style is a bit much. I understand what a pregnancy test is. I don't need a lengthy description of it. But I am hoping I get used to it.

Yes, I think this is a great book to read. But it made me so mad for so many reasons. So many different feelings going on while making my way through this book. Semi satisfied with the ending. But when you get invested in the lives of people, you want to see it through to the very end. I listened to this on audio through Hoopla.

If you loved GET OUT go read this social thriller! And if you don't need TW (rape/suicide) don't look anything up about the book just read it. Super smart, well done-- I felt every single layer of this book like a punch.

batsy You had me at the Get Out comparison! 7y

I still think about this one more than two years after reading it. I've heard rumors (hopes?!?) of a sequel...
