My latest book club read. Just started. I can tell it‘s going to be a very emotional read. However, it‘s good so far!

This is Nola‘s latest act of extortion. A treat in exchange for my new BOTM bookmark. 😂
This is the best $0.99 I‘ve ever spent! “ Dear Satan” is the funniest, most imaginative, and raunchiest Xmas book I‘ve ever read. 😂 I loved the grumpy meets sunshine relationship between Marduke and Merry. As for Satan, well, he stole the show. Talk about hilarious! 💀
I forgot to post this. Nola turned two yesterday! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! ❤️💚❤️🐾
So boring! Homegirl was definitely obsessed with her skin care and by page 30ish, I got sick of hearing about it. Had to move on.
I finally reached that point. 😬 Too many unread boojs. I‘m hoping this will help me clear up my TBR shelf. Somewhat. 😅
I just finished this ARC and OMG! Consider me gobsmacked! This is a beautiful mash up of “The People We Meet on Vacation “ and “One Day in December “. The genuine BFF love between Zac and Josie reminded me so of Alex and Poppy that it had me in tears! Plus, the angst and the wanting and missed opportunities definitely has echoes of “One Day in December “ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫🤩 Out January 3, 2024!
Meh. It was just okay. It didn‘t meet my high expectations. Great beginning but I hated how it ended. It is so dull and flat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Honestly, I had low expectations for this one because her previous book, which has a similar plot was such a letdown for me. However, since it was as in sale for $2.99, I decided to bite the bullet and read it. I‘m so glad I did! It‘s so clever with a few twists I didn‘t see coming! Also, the book is straight comedy! I especially loved (hated) Davis Walton. The stuff that comes out of that egomaniac‘s mouth. 😂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
My BOTM picks. November was a great month!
If you‘re looking for a kooky, suspenseful, atmospheric horror novel with a heroine with a lot of snark then this is your jam! This is the reason why Rachel Harrison is my favorite horror novelist! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩
I just could not connect with the story or the characters. I bailed on it months ago.
Anybody want a free gently used Rocket Book? I just bought it not knowing it didn‘t have lines. I just want to use it to take notes. I am not good at bullet journaling at all. Anyway, I‘ll give it to the first person that expresses interest. Pen not included. Just asking for the cost of shipping. Sorry, US residents preferred. ☺️
Only a 70% rating on here? Please. I give “ The Neighbor Favor” a 100%! This is one of the best romantic comedies I‘ve ever read. The sweet yet sizzling chemistry between Lily and Nick is undeniable and I just enjoyed them so much! I also loved the bond that Lily and her sisters share. Those who have a good relationship with their sister will find this relatable. Looking forward to Iris‘s story! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Aardvark Book club for making my day! I came home only to be pleasantly surprised to see my box waiting for me. Two days before the expected delivery date! I love my early Birthday present! 🥳
I‘m very pleased with my box. Happy early Birthday to me. 🥳
Yesterday, I was finally able to visit The Ripped Bodice Bookstore! It‘s so cute. It‘s everything I imagined and more. I got two books from the Blind Date with a Book Section. I opened them today. One is “Incense and Sensibility by Somali Dev. Exciting because I‘ve never read this author before. The other is “Love Her or Lose Her” by Tess Bailey. Willing to give this author another try. lol I also got some book pins. Can‘t wait to visit again! 😊
A love bite from Nola. I guess that‘s what I get for getting too consumed with the latest season of Stranger Things to notice that she was gnawing at my book while sitting right next to me. 😅
Yeah, no. This is pretty bad even for a debut. It‘s kind of boring and extremely predictable. The main characters are a bunch of sociopathic losers who wouldn‘t know what accountability means if their lives depends on it and in this case, it does. I love unlikeable characters but damn! The only good thing about this book is Poppy‘s diary entries. They‘re so raw. Even though I was never bullied they made me extremely emotional! ⭐️
Oh my goodness! Today‘s ordering was brutal! 😩 The site kept crashing. Anyway, I already read “Hello, Stranger “ but the cover is so beautiful I don‘t mind owning it in hardcover. Excited about my add ons!
Much better than her last one! Still kind of mad about listening to that book.lol. The first three quarters of the story is so captivating and I couldn‘t put it down. There are quite a few twists that surprised me. The last quarter, which focuses on Hazel kind of lags. I‘d say this is a pretty good thriller that has arrived just in time for the summer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
This dude is brilliant! I couldn‘t put this book down because it was so good! It reads more like a horror story and I am so glad because I was jonesing for one of those for a while now. It certainly creeped me out! 😨. I like this one better than “Razorblade Tears “ and that‘s saying a lot! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Here‘s another one that you can add to your BOTM box!
Another wonderful book from Katherine Center! My Netgalley review: https://www.netgalley.com/book/271562/review/524192
I was not expecting this offer! I will be reading and reviewing this one real soon! 😃
Hey, BOTM members. Ali Hazelwood‘s newest book is available to add to your July box!
Hey, New York romance readers! The Ripped Bodice just announced that they will be opening a second location in Brooklyn, NY. Very exciting!
I think I checked out approximately at the 60% mark. The romance is too slow a burn, there is an unnecessary love triangle thrown in, and there is so much politics that it majorly takes away from the romance story (what little there is). Also, in the early chapters I really loved Alexis but as the story progressed, she became really annoying. I‘m mad I spent good money on this. I need to start borrowing from my library again. ☹️
Aardvark pick. This looks cute! Didn‘t choose Christina Lauren‘s newest on BOTM as my add on since I have that one on preorder from LitLove. So, my Aardvark pick fills my romance quota. lol This one shipped right before my BOTM box did. 😃
My picks! They already shipped! I usually don‘t read historical fiction but I do enjoy the theme of colorism and passing. I had “The Last Word” preordered on Audible but after seeing BOTM‘s clue I cancelled it right away. Excited for both!
I finished the audio earlier this evening. I can definitely see why this author author gets the title Queen of Twists. All throughout the book I kept wondering why the heck Grace didn‘t put a fire under her butt and leave that creepy ranch. Well in the end, she showed me! Bam! Didn‘t see that coming.😅 Loved it. The audio could have been better though. Wish it had been a duet. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I didn‘t make it out to celebrate National Independent Bookstore Day. However, my autographed copy of “Zora Books Her Happy After” arrived from The Ripped Bodice Bookstore this afternoon. So, I guess in a way, I did celebrate. 🥰
Happy Pub Day Alice Slater! Thank you @AardvarkBookClub for picking such an incredible thriller. It‘s one of the best I‘ve read! Top shelf stuff for sure. Aside from the one time where I had to get up and grab a bag of popcorn during a particularly titillating scene 🍿😅, I couldn‘t put this book down. I am pleasantly shocked that this is Slater‘s debut. Looking forward to reading more from her! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩
It‘s here! I just preordered it because I HAD to have Stuntman Mike and Tess‘s autograph. According to BOTM‘s hint on its website this book has been chosen for next month. Thinking I may buy it again to match my BOTM copy of “Part of Your World “. 😃
I just love how creative Aardvark Book Club‘s packaging is! Fast too! I was supposed to get this book on Monday. What a pleasant surprise! 😃
This woman is the 🐐! I just heard last week that “Book Lovers” is being adapted into a film. Months ago she announced that “People We Meet on Vacation “ has been optioned as well. Now this! She‘s so amazing and she deserves it!
I was up until 6:00 this morning listening to this. It is the most depressing, despairing, and probably the goriest book I have ever read. It reminds me why I avoid Post Apocalyptic books. On the other hand, it reminds me of just how brilliant CJ Tudor is! My God! She is a rare breed. She is well-versed in beautiful characterization and creating strong plot lines. Always highly original. Can‘t wait for the TV show! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
More excited about this month‘s Aardvark‘s picks than BOTM‘s April picks. A rare occurrence for me.
Last Saturday, to celebrate the first day of Los Angeles sunshine in weeks, I treated Nola to Salt&Straw Ice Cream. Currently listening to “The Drift” by CJ Tudor. I guess I went into reading this one blind because I had no idea it‘s about a zombie apocalypse. I usually avoid these types of books. So glad I didn‘t! Oh, check out the ice cream I got for myself: Off Limits Zombie Cereal w/Coconut and Pandan. A perfect pairing with this book.😅
Goldin has outdone herself! Here‘s the link to my Netgalley review: https://www.netgalley.com/book/274293/review/524192
Wooo, Baby! This was so good!! Already started my Netgalley review. Coming soon. 😃
