Pat Barker is a wonderful writer. This year I have read The Silence of the Girls and now Regeneration. This book is based on true events…it‘s 1917..soldiers suffering from shell-shock are treated by psychiatrist Rivers in a hospital in Scotland. Two of the soldiers are writers Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen. This is book 1 of a trilogy that I shall have to pursue!
Next on the list is The Labyrinth, which won the Miles Franklin literary award.
