4/5⭐ This book is truly MAGICAL. Gorgeous writing I wanted to dive into. I adored the creative steampunk aspects. it's everything I want in a fairytale retelling. The story isn't terribly complex (some plot thread wrap-ups seemed thin), but the developing agency of the main character is done very well. I appreciated the exploration of friendship, love, & being true to your own dreams. #projectnew #TIABchallenge

wanderinglynn I know I shouldn‘t judge just on the cover, but I would pick this book up for the cover alone. Beautiful! 6y
hissingpotatoes @wanderinglynn Right??? I'm so glad the writing matched the cover for me. 6y

#BookMail Pt4 Sorry about the dark photos, it‘s a gloomy day here in Sydney. It actually looked brighter than this.Anyway, this book was recommended but I cannot for the life of me remember where! I think it was booktube but I‘m not sure🤔This is a steampunk Cinderella retelling which is what captured me about it. Still, I‘d love to know where I heard about so if any Litten watches a lot of booktube & knows who recommended it, let me know please?

Mehso-so

I originally chose to read this book because I had loved Meyer's "Cinder" and I figured a Cinderella retelling with a mechanic would be a nice way to revisit that. The writing style of Cornwell did not meet my taste, but I suppose middle schoolers or late elementary (the intended audience) would enjoy it. It seemed dry and predictable. I enjoyed the twist at the end and the message of independence and making one's own way which was a fresh take.

So I was having a DAY at work, and the 'new kid' comes to my desk and says, I got this for you, and I think you need it today. And everything seemed brighter. Thanks AE. And it hit me that it isn't just the Tardis that's bigger on the inside. ❤️📚👓 #catsoflitsy
(Sometimes Harper just looks like a bunch of fur glommed together.) 😂

Texreader Your story makes me smile! How sweet! And your ball of fluff is too! 8y

398.2 Wow that's so nice! I have been meaning to read this book. Do you like it? 8y
Bette @Texreader @Soubhiville @Mtroiano @Dragon Thanks, I thought it was a cool thing for her to do. Harper is like an unidentified walking fur ball, so fluffy! 8y
Bette @398.2 Yes, I liked it. Sort of a steampunk Cinderella story with a twist. It's one of the entries for the March Book Madness our library is doing. 8y
CyranoseDeBergerac Wouldn't it have been even better if the surprise had been a cat? Like, "I'm sorry you're bummed. Here's a cat to make up for it." But, no cats in the library. I know this. Still! ?❤ (edited) 8y
Bette @Cyranosedebergerac Yes! 😂😂😂 Except the ones I have at home greatly prefer the bookmark! 8y
