Shapes and colors in your zoo, lots of things that you can do. Heads and ears, beaks and snouts, that's what animals are all about. I know animals and you do too; make some new ones for your zoo.

I love how this book uses shapes and colors to create different animals. This book is perfect when teach young kids not only reading but shapes, colors, and animals all in one book.

This Caldecott Award winning book is a great representation on how you can use reading through other subjects. This NF book is a great book to teach shapes in math. This book introduces so many shapes, how you can combine them, what you can make with them, and so on. This would be a great book to have students PR. This goes great with El 4 (link lesson topic to students prior knowledge.) #ucflae3414sp21

tclivio This also pairs great with the UDL 7.2 (optimize relevance, value, and authenticity.) https://www.brighthubeducation.com/preschool-crafts-activities/81192-color-zoo-t... This website includes a fun activity where students can create "zoo art", just like they read in the book! 4y
DrSpalding Again, you made good use of your time in the CMC. Arts integration specifically with this title in a kindergarten classroom could be very beneficial to aid their comprehension. Knowing that this author incorporates vivid imagery, you could work on shapes and colors with this book as well. Both are standards in kindergarten. 4y
DrSpalding This author writes specifically for the primary grades. This would be a wonderful book to use in a kindergarten classroom to not only integrate the arts but also teach color and shapes. 4y

This book was super interactive and fun for children! It was eye catching because of its bright colors, but it taught children lessons on shapes, color, and animals. It explains how different shapes can make one unique image!

Color Zoo by Lois Ehlert, 1989. Caldecott Honor Book. The book shows different animals in a very unique way. Each page builds off each other to create the next animal. The animals are made up off different shapes. The colors are primary colors and they are bold which was very appealing! Each page is exciting with a new animal on it. At the end of the book there is a page with all the shapes and colors used throughout the book.

This book is all about shapes. It shows the beauty of geometry and gets students excited about math. I would use this as a RA or introduction to capture the students attention. #UCFSU19

gergana08 This book, “Color Zoo”, is a great choice as well as Caldecott Award Winning. I would use this book with elementary level students since the book focuses on more basic concepts. It‘s a great way to teach the mathematical concept of geometry #, the shapes, colors and sizes. 5y
