This book is so simple yet will help children so much when they‘re learning to do all sorts of things. This book should be a staple in any library.
This Caldecott Award winning book is a great representation on how you can use reading through other subjects. This NF book is a great book to teach shapes in math. This book introduces so many shapes, how you can combine them, what you can make with them, and so on. This would be a great book to have students PR. This goes great with El 4 (link lesson topic to students prior knowledge.) #ucflae3414sp21
It first shows the animal and then on the back of the page has a shape cutout that was part of the animal, it‘s so cool!
Color Zoo by Lois Ehlert published in 1989 is an amazing book to have in the classroom!! it teaches animals and shapes all in one.
Color Zoo by Lois Ehlert, 1989. Caldecott Honor Book. The book shows different animals in a very unique way. Each page builds off each other to create the next animal. The animals are made up off different shapes. The colors are primary colors and they are bold which was very appealing! Each page is exciting with a new animal on it. At the end of the book there is a page with all the shapes and colors used throughout the book.
This book is all about shapes. It shows the beauty of geometry and gets students excited about math. I would use this as a RA or introduction to capture the students attention. #UCFSU19
