The Perfect Date had the chance to be a great fake dating hate to love romance. But the mediocre writing, lackluster plot, and character development, failed to deliver the sparks needed to believe Angel and Duke‘s budding romance.

so-soI think Jasmine Guillory ruined rom-coms for me. I fell in love with her characters and now these others don't even stand a chance. I finished but it just felt "meh".
2 hours into #reversereadathon and Day 2 of Netgalley's #reviewathon and I've completed the book the put me in a slump in July.
WHY CANT I STOP READING ROMANCE?!?! I‘m typically a very diverse reader, I do books from all genres (except mystery, tbh), time periods and continents. But of the 36 books I‘ve read this year, half have been romance.
Def recommend this one... yay for black and brown romance couples! And #ownvoices. I can see this one making an excellent Netflix movie. Gina Rodriguez and Michael B Jordan perhaps?
so-soAlso out June 11, 2019 was The Perfect Date by Evelyn Lozada. A cute, flirty, fun read with some tidbits of great information. It‘s not a book is necessarily recommend to EVERYONE but one thing I loved was the author‘s dedication to showcasing realities. The main character, Angel, and her son Jose are working their best to make a better life for themselves. Angel works multiple jobs and is putting herself through nursing school. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ cont‘d

Looks like something cute and fun. That is NOT what you get.
1. I don‘t feel the author did any research on baseball players and how contracts work.
2. She just left her son (who hadn‘t woke up yet) in the hospital with her neighbor to wear a wire to catch the bad doctor. Riiiiiiight.
3. Not a single person in this book is worth liking. Even the righteous main character who gave the baseball player a unethical shot anyway.
At first I found this book cute and fun, but now it‘s like a train wreck I can‘t look away from. Too much man handling from the male love interest. Too much crazy with his people, I feel like I‘m reading a soap opera. The writing is off putting too. I‘m at 80% and instead of using the main characters name the author keeps using “student nurse”.
