For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetimemaybe even lovein this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies. Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion . . . she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas. Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who arent affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly theres a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo. Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is . . . Olive doesnt mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be. With Christina Laurens uniquely hilarious and touching voice (Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a romance for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love.

Pretty much everything I wanted from an enemies to lovers, forced proximity romantic comedy. And just what I needed after a run of bad books.

3.5 stars. Totally fun "brain candy" reading. It's a rom com, but a little more "open door" than I was expecting, so beware if you are sensitive to that. A perfect beach read or palette cleanser between heavier books.

So, I‘ve had this book on my table for a couple of mths. While my kindle was charging last night, I picked it up to read a little, not meaning to read more than a few pages. Hours later, I finished it. It was funny and creative. Liked the characters & the big family. Now at about 14.5 hours for #24b4monday don‘t think I‘ll hit 24 but maybe 20.

Olive and Ethan have hated each other for years. Now, they are forced to go on a honeymoon together after the bride and groom (her sister/his brother) and the whole wedding party get food poisoning. Surely, they can keep their distance for 10 days in Hawaii? I enjoyed this funny romantic comedy. Olive‘s quirky, large family and her relationship with her twin was fun to read about. Also enjoyed banter of the MC couple

I had a few issues with this (spoilers in comment) but over all this was extremely enjoyable. The good: Olive's family was collectively my favorite character; the descriptions of scenery and food had me longing for a vacation and/or a large family; I'm always in the mood for a happy ending. There was lots to like here. 👍

bookandbedandtea I wish Dane hadn't turned out to be such a jackass and the evil mastermind behind their hatred of each other. When it looked like it was mutual misunderstandings and that they were working through their issues I was much more impressed. But learning that they were played by his brother felt like a cop out on the authors' part. 3mo

So I've apparently managed to go 20 odd years without reading a romance book wherein the male lead shares a name with my son. Now that I am reading such a book I'm a little squicked. 🥴

When I'm not reminded of the dude's name I'm quite enjoying this. 👍

britt_brooke 🤣🤣🤣 3mo
marleed Oh that‘s funny. My son had an unusual name for his age group but now little kids have it. It‘s always a head turner when I hear someone else with his name! 3mo
bookandbedandtea @marleed Kind of the same here. "Ethan" apparently became more popular a few years after he was born because he never encountered another one in his grade throughout his school years but a few years behind him there were quite a few. ?‍♀️ Funny how names go in cycles. 3mo

This was a super fun #romcom that also takes on a more serious tone and themes in the last third. Olive and Ethan are the siblings of a recently married couple who end up going on their honeymoon due to the newlyweds getting food poisoning. Olive, unfortunately, has hated Ethan ever since he silently judged her with fatphobia. They constantly bicker if they're together. Of course, it turns out he didn't, they are a great match, etc. #Romantsy

I liked this! I'm new delving into the realm of contemporary romances and this is the first I've read that doesn't have explicit sex in it. I REALLY loved Olive. She's such a likable and relate able main character who has absolutely zero of her shit together. I was rooting for her the whole book and wanted to snap on some people near the end when people think she's lying and just dump all over her. The ending was beautiful.

Often Christina Lauren‘s books knock-it-out-of-the-park for me, but this one didn‘t really do it. Interesting concept, and they played on the “hate each other because of a misunderstanding but actually are very similar” trope. And they did some different things with storyline and supporting characters. But ultimate, the growth points felt a little forced and underdeveloped. Still a recommend, but as a real light read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
