The Gilded Life of Matilda Duplaine
The Gilded Life of Matilda Duplaine | Alex Brunkhorst
5 posts | 7 read | 2 to read
Family secrets. Forbidden love. And the true price of wealth. The story begins with a dinner party invitation... When young journalist Thomas Cleary is sent to dig up quotes for the obituary of a legendary film producer, the man's eccentric daughter offers him access to the exclusive upper echelons of Hollywood society. As Thomas enters a world of private jets and sprawling mansions, his life and career take off beyond his wildest dreams. Then he meets Matilda Duplaine. Beautiful and mysterious, Matilda has spent her entire life within the walls of her powerful father's Bel-Air estate. Thomas is entranced, and the two begin a secret love affair. But the more he learns about the mysterious woman's identity, the more he realizes that privilege always comes with a price.

Oooops! 😅 I just realized I haven‘t shared my list for January‘s #bookspin yet. I don‘t think I‘m going to do the bingo this month, I‘m just going to try to read as many as I can, and hopefully they‘ll fit into some of the prompts for #JumpStart2021. Currently reading the tagged book, and I‘m finished 2,6,&10.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Girl Waits With A Gun, and will definitely be reading on in the series. ⬇️

Clwojick Girl With a Pearl Earring was brilliant, but The Scarlett Letter was a huge bail. 3y
eeclayton I bailed on The Scarlet Letter too! 3y

I‘ve been so good lately. I‘ve hardly bought any books for myself this year... probably less than 15 ☺️ Soooooo I went to the thrift store on my dinner break, and picked up these five books for only $6.

Have my fellow Littens read any of these? Thoughts?

First day off in a while so I am obviously reading all day. I have really enjoyed this one so far. It makes for a great "summer read."
