I read this book a couple of years ago so thought I better add it before I add the second one I completed today. I really love Sinks writing. This story is gripping and really draws you in.

2⭐'s. I couldn't really get into this book. It took me way too long to get to know the characters and what I got to know I was bored with. I don't really know what this book was trying to tell me but it's not a book for me.
i remember liking this book a lot when i first read it a few years back. but now, after re-reading it, the "lapses" in wording have become obvious to me, and halfway through a number of pages, i would cringe at the lack of storytelling flow. nevertheless, i still think the plot is compelling enough for me to do a re-read of the 2nd and 3rd books in the series. crossing my fingers that the next 2 books will be as good as i remembered them.
I picked this book up because of the original cover with what I always assumed were statues in a cemetery. The author later told me she was told that cover wasn't YA friendly and it was changed. Either way, this book haunted my dreams when I was reading it. #samebookdifferentcover #aprilbookshowers
I loved the book... but it took so long for the sequel to come out (I know it was just a year but it felt like forever) that I lost interest and then couldnt bring myself to reread it...
