The spunky, strong-willed, eight-year-old Betsy plans to be the best shepherd in history. As you follow Betsy through this TL book on her adventure, the story begins to seem very familiar...until, Betsy learns that Zimmo (the wolf) wasn‘t after the sheep at all. Really, he just wanted some pie! Come to find out, he was even a great shepherd. By the end, Betsy and Zimmo become friends and herd together.

TabathaA This award-winning book (IRA/CBC Children's Choice) would be presented as a RT. Utilize UDL1.3 (offer alternatives for visual information) and EL 17 (provide contextual support through audio visuals, models, demonstrations, realia, body language, and facial expressions). EL 9 (teach note-taking strategies – t-lists, timelines, etc.) would also be a great tool for comparing the two stories. (edited) 3y
StephanyNunez I like the the lesson plans you included. I like that lesson plans include introductions to vocabulary and guided reading. 3y

ztorres I can't wait to read this book, it seems like a fun one. Especially because its about a eight year old and students love reading books that they can relate too. I also enjoyed the resources you provided. It is excellent to use with the students during learning centers. 3y

Betrinag I‘m really a sucker for twists on classics! Students are immediately engaged because they are familiar with the story, and they remain hooked when they realize it‘s a different story from what they know! I‘ll always agree that these kinds of books are great adds to the classroom library. 3y
Sdemps I love reading TL and this seems like a great one to add to my growing classroom library. RT as a teaching strategy lined up perfectly with your chosen UDL and EL. 3y
DrSpalding Excellent job utilizing the author‘s website and going above and beyond by adding two different lesson plans. Variants of traditional literature like this are wonderful books to compare, text to text for similarities and differences. 3y
