I‘ve already mentioned A Walk in the Woods by Bryson, but it‘s the best book that has to do with hiking that I‘ve ever read, so it‘s getting another mention. One of my favorite things to do is hike, so it was extremely difficult to choose one photo, but I finally settled on one of the shots I took while down in the Smokies. A book with a significant walk (other than the obligatory LOTR mention) is the absolutely amazing Dawn Land.

This story was truly an experience. The entire thing felt like a dream. I loved the interwoven myths and legends of the Abenaki people within the narrative of the story. Though they deviate from the main plot a bit, they only add to the richness of the world and help the reader to better understand the cultures. Bruchac, an Abenaki tribe member himself, is a masterful storyteller and I will be eagerly searching for his other works. ❤️

I‘m absolutely loving this book so far. It‘s like reading in a dream, it‘s beautiful. I enjoy the naming of things and people. The insight into the culture through the native author is priceless. The humor is wonderful too and not what I expected from the more sobering blurbs on the back cover.
