I am continually reading books by women of the Middle East. Why? Because they are the ultimate survivors. Honestly, they've been dealt a bad hand and the courage to speak out about it is impressive and enlightening. They are usually very strong and powerful personalities capable of so much yet living in societies that mire them.

Shirin Enadi is a human rights activist from Tehran. She was the first Iranian woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and this is her memoir. It is a beautiful story of her faith, her family, her desire for a quiet traditional life, and her intense love for her country, which makes the disappointment in aspects of the government so much more acute. #booksbymuslimwomen #readingwomenmonth #resistance #junetunz
