Winner of the St. Martin's Malice Domestic Award in 1997 for her first work Murder With Peacocks, Donna Andrews brings back her zany characters and disasterous events. In an attempt to get away from her family, Meg and her boyfriend go to a tiny island off the coast of Maine. What could have been a romantic getaway slowly turns into disaster. Once there, they are marooned by a hurricane ahd that is only the beginning of their problems. Meg and her boyfriend arrive at the house only to discover that Meg's parents and siblings, along with their spouses are all there. When a murder takes place, Meg realizes that she and her boyfriend can no longer sit by a cozy fireplace, but must instead tramp around the muddy island to keep try and clear her father who is the chief suspect.

Love the rainy, hurricane-blustery setting on a remote Maine island! It makes me want to build a fire and be cozy. ☕️🪵 Meg and Michael took off for a bit to have some time to relax at her Aunt‘s cottage - unfortunately it turns out they did not leave Meg‘s lovable, but kooky relatives back in Yorktown. Including Spike.
I‘m on the lookout for the hardcovers of Peacocks and Puffins - the only two I don‘t have!

First finish for #20in4. This is the second in the Meg Langslow series. Donna Andrews writes very quirky characters and there is always humor in her novels. This was a short cozy mystery that let us get to know the Langslow clan a bit better.

Just like the first this is a great example of a cozy read. The stakes were a little higher but the over the top characters and situations balanced everything out nicely. I am definitely continuing the series.
