From debut author Rachel Ruiz, When Penny Met POTUS is a unique and clever picture book about a young girl whose mother works for the president of the United States. Penny has heard the term POTUS over and over but doesn't know what it means and her imagination runs wild! When she spends a day at the office with her mother, she asks a few questions, looks around, and tries to discover just who or what POTUS is."

A great example of how our abbreviations can wreck havoc on little ones‘ understanding. #childrensbook

vlwelser That's pretty cute. Is this a series? 4y
Sharpeipup @vlwelser I don‘t believe so. 4y

This is another book about which I learned through SCAN's Readers Make Leaders campaign. It's a lot of fun!

Penny gets to go to work at the White House with her mom, and is anxious to meet POTUS, about whom she has all sorts of ideas. She is at first disappointed, but ultimately pleased by the reality. Read it for yourself—I think you'll be pleased by Penny's POTUS, too!

LibrarianRyan I have that same Ipad cover (in worse shape) and that same book sitting on my desk right now. When I first opened litsy i thought, how did they get a picture of my desk. 😁 4y
JoyBlue @LibrarianRyan That's so funny!!!!! You obviously have great taste. 😉 💙 This is my second iPad cover of the same pattern—I've only had it for a some weeks (or maybe months—time tracking is somewhat elusive to me since quarantine started). My first one fell apart beyond usefulness. 4y

Penny thinks POTUS is a fun monster and is at first disappointed to find out she is human!

My daughter's name is Penny and wouldn't it have been amazing for her to see a human, woman president, too? I will hold this book in my back pocket for another four years. Onward!

Cute introduction to POTUS but I wish the author had explored the office or the White House a little more. Still, a great picture book to start a conversation this election year.

It must be take your daughter to work day because Penny gets to meet POTUS. She has been imagining a blue ox like monster who gets to do really important things, and eats octopus sandwiches. Penny is a little disappointed when the president turns out to be human, but I was not disappointed.
