😕 It‘s a sad day. After 7 years in business, a local independent bookstore closed its doors today. In a heartfelt letter, the owner said: “we‘ve come to realize that determination does not always guarantee success, no matter how great the effort… thin margins, fierce online competition, and increasing costs on nearly all fronts have become insurmountable hurdles for this business .. an unfortunate reality that many independent bookstores face.”

CoverToCoverGirl Very sad news indeed. 💔 2y
Hooked_on_books Especially sad that they made it through the pandemic but now have to close. Inflation is so bad and I‘m guessing hitting a lot of small businesses hard. 2y
Amiable @Hooked_on_books My husband and I were talking about it yesterday. There used to be another bookstore in town years ago before Savoy opened, and that one closed too. I wonder if the town just can‘t support a bookstore, for whatever reasons. The owner also has another bookstore in Mystic (about 15 minutes away), and that one does very well. It has a larger tourist base, I think. 2y
Gissy No😢😭😭We need to support these small businesses by buying books there 2y
