Nearly Gone
Nearly Gone | Elle Cosimano
Bones meets Fringe in a big, dark, scary, brilliantly-plotted urban thriller that will leave you guessing until the very end Nearly Boswell knows how to keep secrets. Living in a DC trailer park, she knows better than to share anything that would make her a target with her classmates. Like her mother's job as an exotic dancer, her obsession with the personal ads, and especially the emotions she can taste when she brushes against someone's skin. But when a serial killer goes on a killing spree and starts attacking students, leaving cryptic ads in the newspaper that only Nearly can decipher, she confides in the one person she shouldn't trust: the new guy at school--a reformed bad boy working undercover for the police, doing surveillance. . . on her. Nearly might be the one person who can put all the clues together, and if she doesn't figure it all out soon--she'll be next.

@TheFunkyBookworm #YAWednesday
I have a few copies of this book in my classroom library, and they're always checked out. This is a great mystery/ thriller based on Nearly Boswell's obsession with the personal ads in the newspaper, and clues she has to figure out before someone dies. #ya #librarylove #mystery #englishteacher #teachersoflitsy

TheFunkyBookworm Ohhh I love when I can tell my kiddos that other kids also love a book- somehow that matters a lot more than saying I loved it 😂 sounds like a good one! Thanks for participating 💜🎉 6y
CoffeeNBooks @TheFunkyBookworm Yeah, mine are the same way. I keep Big Idea Books (I'm pretty sure I got this idea from a Kelly Gallagher book), and I give my students extra credit to review and write a short blurb about books after they've read them. Then they put them into the notebook that best matches the book's theme. That way, students can look for other books similar to what they like, and students have recommended the books in the notebook. 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @CoffeeNBooks love that idea!!! I was thinking of doing something similar with a bulletin board separated into genres! 6y
tracey38 @CoffeeNBooks that's a great idea!! 6y
CoffeeNBooks @TheFunkyBookworm That sounds cool! They'd be able to see it all the time! 6y

I don‘t want to jinx it, but I feel I may have found one I can stick with. I‘ve had a rash of DNFs lately and I need a win.

Mehso-so

Meh--it was suspenseful and all, but overall, just okay. Read it for the book club I run where I teach...my high schoolers liked it better than I did, so perhaps I am not the intended audience. 🌟🌟🌟

Holding Smoke was one of my 2016 favorites so I was happy to hear she has more books. This was a tightly written, smart, engaging thriller that completely threw me at the end. I loved and hated all the characters and I enjoy when a book does that. There were small mysteries within the larger mystery that could have been messy and annoying but weren't. It's a YA book and some parts definitely felt like it but overall, this was a great read.

I could not put this book down. I was completely surprised at who was behind the murders! Really great mystery/thriller read that has you guessing until the very end.
