Lillian‘s entire family is murdered on a night Jews are terrorized in her Russian town. Believing her daughter dead as well, she leaves for the US to start over, thus beginning her journey. This book is fantastic! The characters and settings spring to life and I was completely committed to traveling alongside Lillian. I‘ve never read Bloom before but will be actively looking for more of her books.

Finally read this book which was a gift from @Chelsibeau almost a year ago! It took the #booked2019 challenge to make it happen! #foodorbeverageonthecover Lillian Leyb‘s family is slaughtered in a Russian progrom. She comes to America determined to succeed. Her first job is working as a seamstress in a Broadway theater, which soon turns to much more. Lillian receives word that her daughter is still alive, and she begins a journey to find her.

Took a book with me to read while getting my hair done, but couldn‘t resist taking a look at these beautiful magazines. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Very happy about my donation box find today. My first Amy Bloom, of whom I've heard great things, and starting the first chapter alongside a yummy beer...

This was a great book! It's about an epic, almost hopeless journey of a woman trying to find her lost daughter. The journey brings her into contact with such interesting, varied people.
